To those wanting to lose weight I just want to say that I've lost more than 3 stones over the past year without following any special diet plan.
All I did was stick to around 1400-1500 calories a day and I avoided eating foods that are more than 4% fat except for maybe a couple of times a week as a treat. I still had wine at the weekends and the odd takeaway but I made better choices i.e plain boiled rice and no creamy sauces. If I ate slightly over my calories one day, I would eat a little less and exercise a bit more the next day.
I also walked briskly for an hour a day.
It took me 9 months to lose just over 3 stones using this method and I've kept all of it off.
Diet clubs are a total waste of time. They really are just after your cash and they are not necessary in any way. It's soooooo much less stressful to just watch what you eat without having to count everything religiously.
    Good luck :)

    Morning all.

Just had a read back. I really need to lose about 5 stone too but I am trying.

I lost half a stone before Xmas by cutting out crisps, chocolate and bread which helped. I already either steam, dry roast or George Foreman grill most things.

At the mo I only have about 4 pairs of jeans that fit and a few elasticated long skirts and would really like to get back into my trouser suits and trousers.

Off to do my usual 4 weekly food shop shortly then an hour in bed before I can even start to comp. Hope I manage to catch back up in the next few days.

Have a very lucky day today all.
If at first you don't succeed try, try, try again.

Well today is today (thanks Toni! :)) so today I take control of my eating and exercise habits.

Great advice both PP and poodledoodledoo - thanks.

I'm unsure of calories in foods though, so I've downloaded an app on my iPhone which will hopefully help - I just need to remember to fill it in! And of course it's only a guide.

I've got a Tuna pasta salad for lunch today and dinner is cooking away in the slow cooker for when we get home from work. I've just had a yoghurt for breakfast (don't normally eat breakfast) and I've brought fruit for snacks.

My goal is 1 stone and it's 16 weeks til Center Parcs so that's just 1lb a week. And it's just 6 weeks to the 10k ARGH I didn't realise that was so close!!!

So anyway, how is everyone today? Good I hope?
Life is all about the journey.

I think the trick is to really believe in yourself. If you truly believe that if you eat the right things you will see a real result in a few months then it provides you with enough motivation to stick at it.
I know it sounds daft but the first few weeks I kept telling myself 'you're a slim person now and soon it will show on the outside'.
It can be hard at the beginning to actually accept that the weight will ever shift and I think this is where most people give up.
    You CAN do it.
