Send the Ipod back and get him something else (or nothing) that would be a surprise for him!

Most couriers will leave a parcel with a neighbour as long as they sign for it.

Only if they have tried the delivery address first, which in this case they had not. I will also add that nearly all couriers, including the RoyalMail and ParcelForce delvier to ADDRESSES and not to people, so the name on the package means nothing.

It was still a surprise OP, just not in the way you were intending it! :D I would be annoyed too but the courier wasn't to know. I'm also surprised he even knew what he was delivering, but I suppose your hubby would have just opened it and found out anyway?

It's a shame because usually you can mark things as a gift or at least type a message in a comments box when you order to point out such things (which unfortunately might still be ignored). This kind of thing happens though, even if it was delivered successfully without him knowing he might have stumbled on its hiding place later.

I'd look on the bright side- the fact he wants it now just goes to show how excited he is about his present! You did a good job on the present buying even if he knows what it is. My SO has had to tell me what a few of my pressies are because I always announce I'm going to buy it myself, and am too dim to understand his hints that I really shouldn't  So you've avoided that dilemma at least!
