Hello
just would like some general idea on how much a new combi boiler would be to buy and install:
Some has recommended Worcester but apparently they're expensive??
So....
cost for decent combi boiler?
cost for putting it in?
Anything else you may think of?
the job - we have a Ferolli combi boiler at the moment which is very unreliable and has some faults. We'd simply like to swap the boiler over as all the radiators are in the place we want them and all the pipes are where they need to be - is this a simple boiler swap?? or am i completely wrong??

I hear Worcester have a good name but we just got rid of ours it was about 11 years old & we had a number of faults which began at the installation by British Gas we thought by paying a top price it would save hassle later - however they just sub contacted it out I can't remember how many engineers came out & left muttering "circuit board" in the end a man from Worester came out & ten minutes later had it working.
We have had a few estimates to replace it with a Valiant combi an average of £3k has been quoted.Theres only two rules to remember1) Im always right2) See rule 10 -

Good evening: the new combi might not be able to go in the same location for a couple of reasons.... for more on the specification and installation of condensing boilers see here.
Cost will be dependent on your location in the UK and the specification of the installation....get a couple of RGIs in to quote.
Consider a Remeha Avanta or Viessmann Vitodens 100 (5 year parts and labour warranty and a stainless steel heat exchanger) as value for money options....keeping in mind the boiler will only be as good as its installation and annual servicing.
Lots of boiler threads on here to keep you busy reading.Let us know how you get on. Also check out the HHIC .

Jesus christ 3k - oh dear me!!!
For my sims i've looked on ebay and there are some companies that supply and fit for cheapest £900 for a Glow Worm Betacom 24 or Sabre 25 (how good these are i dont have a clue)
They also offer a Valiant Ecotec Pro 24 supplied and fitted for £1295 and a Worcester Bosch 30 CDI for £1550 supplied and fitted.
The problem is i dont know what i would need it terms of a straight swap?0 -
Thanks Canuckle - i guess getting a few people in to quote would be an first step like you said.
In your oppinion though how much would you think - based on one of the boilers you said or the ones i mentioned in my thread above regarding ebay?

Hi.. avoid the Ebay installers:eek: To start...the CH system will need a chemical flush (preferably a powerflush) to get rid the sludge and other contaminants that can cause the premature death of a boiler and void the warranty. Take a look at the EST guide I've linked to in my previous post to get a handle on current regulations and details on 'Basic' and 'Best' practice then you'll know what must or should be included in the specification. As you are in South Wales (I followed your other thread) labour costs will be substantially lower than where I am....perhaps folks over the border could give you an idea of what they have paid for a quality combi install.;)

i've had a 3k quote for new boiler in a new place with new pipework and 2 new radiators.
i think you should be able to do better than 3k for a swap,I think I saw you in an ice cream parlour
Drinking milk shakes, cold and long
Smiling and waving and looking so fine0 -

Hi...an educated but ballpark guess...under £2000 for either boiler I've mentioned (if it can go in the same location and have a standard flue) installed by a competent RGI. Check registration here and ask to see the Gas Safe photo ID card before you let anyone into your house to quote...try to get personal recommendations from sources you trust or try the CIPHE.

Thanks for the Gas Register website - i'm going to fire off a few emails to those closest - there are 12 in my village under a mile away!!!! ha-ha - brilliant.
No ebay for me then
I've just emailed the closest 12 to me so see the responses and invite them around - providing they can show the Gas Safe ID card ;-)0 -
The sabre may be the cheapest boiler in your list, they are a rebadged vokera boiler and are good valve for money.
Whatever boiler you decide on i would suggest get a spirovent fitted as system crap is the biggest killer of boilers.
I cannot advise on the cost,as the job needs to be seen.
When you have had your quotes just pop back with details of what the installers have said and we can advise you further.0 -
brilliant thanks for the help both........AGAIN0
