What happens if you don't pay your water bill?

I don't because i am against being forced to drink water that is fluoridated against my consent, but to some on here they consider me a common thief , but maybe if more people protested our water supply would be safe to drink . I am against paying to be poisoned not sure why anyone else would willingly pay to be poisoned the mind boggles ....:eek:
I am not sure why I am bothering but I am interested to know what you think about the "other" water you use ? Why shouldn't you pay for the water to flush the toilet or have a shower ?
You are a thief by definition of the word as you are taking something without paying for it and it does not belong to you..so not really sure you can complain about the label.There is a race of men that don't fit in; A race that can't stand still;
So they break the hearts of kith and kin, and roam the world at will.

I think that it is time to "Hug a Kaya"
Kayas are simply misunderstood.
They don't pay for things that they believe to be poisoning them however they continue to take the product.
They can't see the point that they use much more water through the bath/toilet/sink than drinking but still wont pay.
They don't understand that it is not the water comp that loses money but all of the other customers who have to cover their missing money.
They refuse to stop paying £1 for 1,000 litres of water and buy their water from a supermarket for £1 a litre.

No one is forcing you to drink it if you feel that strongly buy bottled water, as you don't pay for any water you use from domestic supply then also use bottled water to wash with, do your washing, flush toilets etc., instead of stealing it from the utility companies and being subsidised by others who do pay their bills.0 -
I can understand the attitude of not wanting to pay for your water - its an essential of life and in an ideal world should be freely available for all.
We do pay a lot of tax here in the UK - i shudder to think what the flat rate would be if it were just in one amount. We pay income tax from our wages, VAT on a lot of stuff we buy, 80% tax on fuel, road tax on top of that, council tax for where we live even though we've paid tax from our wages already, tax on our pension's and savings, even though tax has already been paid on that money, capital gains tax should we be lucky enough to make money from a property, the list goes on! Even when you die you can still be taxed when you leave your money to someone. It sucks beyond words, and i understand totally why someone would be !!!!ed off.
We all read regular reports about some war we're involved in, in some distant country that we've never been to. We read about giving foreign aid to countries that have bigger economies than us, giving billions to Europe, bailing out banks with more billions etc. I think the bank bailout was the ultimate slap in the face - if they wanted to kick start the economy then why not just give the money to us?
Combine this massive waste of public resources with the new laws that have been introduced in the last decade or so that take away freedoms and attack small businesses. Take the pub trade for example, in the town i'm from i know at least 10 pubs that have closed in the past few years. The financial crash, the smoking ban, expensive taxes on drinks, now the latest was the minimum unit price for alcohol. All of this combined has put a lot of strain on the pub trade. Do the council reduce the taxes to the pubs? I doubt it.
Anyway before i rant on too much, the point i'm making is that a lot of people are annoyed with rising living costs and reduced freedom in this country. It seems we are continually paying more for less. I would like nothing more than if everyone just told these companies where to go. The people have the power ultimately, its just that nobody sticks together.
Taking the posts on this forum for example - someone doesn't agree with paying his water bill, as its a mild form of extortion. A few people attack him as a thief. Did he ask to be born into this society? Water is as essential as oxygen for living, do you propose a tax on the air too? If the government had their way, i'm sure that would be implemented.0 -

It is free for all just use rainwater, if you do not wish to pay for the infrastructure such as reservoirs, water purification and maintenance of supplies to properties and drainage etc., don't.
If you think it is extortion disconnect from the mains services, collect and purify your own rainwater and use a septic tank.0 -
There are some moronic comments on here !
I worked in a property some years ago now (15+ years) which had been cut off for non payment, he had to fill bottles up from his son's house.
Anyhow back to the non payment, why the fcuk should I pay to take away the s hit of a non payer ? answer me that you toss ers !
I pay and am quite happy to pay for my water even though it comes from a borehole where I live, it has to go through infrastructure to get to the treatment works, then the equipment has to be maintained, then its treated and finally sent out to customers, so yes indeed those that dont pay imo should a) be named and shamed in the local press b) they should have sewerge and mains water cut off, If they cant be arsed to pay for the service then it should be withdrawn completely c) they should be prosecuted to the full extent for theft. You may click thanks if you found my advice useful0 -
Nothing apparently. Or that's what this article suggests - http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/5050048.stm.
The article also says that those who do pay are paying an extra £10 per year to subsidise those who don't pay. But maybe it's more - if 15% don't pay that means that 15% of what the rest of us pay is to cover the non-payers, so about £30/year on a £200/year bill. That's not on.
So what's to stop me from deciding I'd rather not pay too? Will the water company sue me? It sounds as if they wouldn't, otherwise how do these 15% of people manage to get away with it for so long? If the bailiffs were knocking on their doors, they'd be paying.
I'm sure that if everyone was to now refuse to pay, the situation would be resolved in no time, and we'd all see a healthy and fair reduction in our bills. I'm certainly tempted to do so. What do you think?
When my water company suggested that I had failed to pay my water bill, they certainly chased me for the payment!
I had actually paid, but the bank lost the payment.
Long story, but after I explained it the water company were happy to wait whilst the payment I had made was traced by the bank. Unfortunately, the bank couldn't (or wouldn't) trace the payment and in the end paid the bank paid the water bill again for me.0 -
So what have these water companies done for us to imply such obligations upon us? Water - it falls from the sky, is fundamental for life, and it's a human right to access it.
So, when these companies make these sort of PROFITS each year:
Severn Trent £275m
Anglian £311m
United £458m
you have to wonder.
Did they make it? Does it belong to them? Can we live without it?
If the answer to all of these questions is No, then they cannot charge you for water itself, only supply and maintenance of infrastructure. J
Do you have a choice of water provider? Are you protected from monopoly abuse?
If the answer to both these questions is No then how legitimate can their pricing be? Judging by these profit margins, they're slightly overcharging!0 -
I haven't paid for years and won't give them a penny. Fortunately for me I am poor and they can't make me pay.
The reason I have this attitude is because they threatened (by way of debt collection agency letters) to take me to court for non-payment of advance charges, and when I invited them to do so they didn't.
They would have been more than happy to rob me of what little I have, and they are still doing it to people, so they can get lost. I don't take kindly to lying, thieving scumbags, and I consider the money I am saving to be compensation for their conspiracy to defraud me out of what was rightfully mine. I have no problem in 'stealing' from a thief.0 -
Plus they stole over £400 from my friend's benefit money when they got the DWP to make deductions from their benefit by blatantly lying - they told JCPlus that my friend had failed to pay a water debt, which was totally untrue.
A court ordered the DWP to pay back all the money.
Now I don't know about the rest of you, but I've seen enough evidence of their unlawful and bullying tactics to make me feel a little antipathy towards Severn Trent and South Staffs. If anyone has a complaint about my stance I suggest they write to the above mentioned companies and complain to them instead - as they started it.0
