  • When did you use it: 03/09/10
What did you send it: 24g 9c Gold
How much did it promise you: £317.90
How much did it deliver: £297.93
How efficient was the service: Very quick and efficient
If it didn't deliver the full amount, what was its reason: Weight difference, said it was 21.9g not 24g as my per digital kitchen scales
Anything else other people should know:

Thought I should feedback as I looked more at any post that was not a first time poster and such a lot of them are!!!
The service was very quick and efficient, money was BACS to my account on day of receipt as they promise.
They called me to inform me of the weight difference before proceeding, hard to be sure how accurate my scales are so I would not like to comment on the reasons for this.
  • Great service from hatton garden metals, posted scrap gold & silver to them on tuesday, £ 212.00. In my account wednesday. Compared to local gold wallahs a very good price.:t
  • Following all the recommendations on this site I sent off a bag of mixed gold items in August 2010. The website is very easy to use and calculator straight forward. I worked out that I had 35g of hallmarked gold with another 14g of 'unsure' which I decided to post but had not included on the form. By 12.25 the following day I had an email showing all the gold to be 9ct and by the time I logged into my bank account the money was there! Just for info I did compare the price and Hatton Garden were the best! Use with confidence!:A
  • I posted off 36g of 9ct which I had sat in a plastic bag for months. I had been tempted by other sites and also my local jeweller but after reading reviews on MSE I decided to take the plunge.
    I was quoted £346.
Posted by Special Delivery costing £5.05 on Wednesday 5pm. Got EMAIL early next day(11am) confirming weight minus a very slight weight alteration due to me weighing it in the bag probably!!
I opted for CHEQUE as I wasn't keen on submitting my bank details.
Remittance advice EMAIL was sent same day and Friday a.m I received a cheque for £344.
Great service, great communication and a very quick, efficient and reliable service.
I am considering sending in some more now.:j
  • I had weighed my gold and had it valued at a local jeweller but decided to give HGM a go after reading all the rave reviews. On 13/9 I completed the enquiry (quotation) form on HGM and was quoted considerably more that the jeweller. So, with some trepidation I sent off my gold (this cost £5.05) special next day delivery which is insured up to £500 value so that was fine. HGM emailed me immediately after I sent off my enquiry with a quote and document to print and sign, together with secure account details so that I could track the process of my transaction. Today I received an email before lunchtime advising that my gold had been verified advising the full amount that I would be credited with today. I checked my account a few moments ago and yes - the funds have been credited to my account as promised! I was really quite sceptical of using this service and almost stuck with the jeweller's quote but I'm £50 better off for giving HGM the benefit of the doubt. Super efficient service that I will cheerfully recommend to friends and family. :j
  • I looked at their site over the weekend and saw that they took silver as well - I emailed them to ask if it had to be jewellery as I had 2 silver knife and forks as well as some jewellery - I haven't heard back yet, but wondered if anyone on the forum knew the answe to this please? Thank you.

If they're going to melt it down, I can imagine that they'd care whether it's jewellery, cuttlery or whatever. ;)

There are too many newbies posting of their wonderful experience with HGM that you have to ask yourself if these are genuine or not. It is not hard to setup duplicate accounts in order to promote your service.

I think all those posts from posters with 1 or 2 posts should be discounted or at least be taken with a pinch of salt. I would say 60%+ of the posts on here are by newbies with no previous posting history.

I sent in a small item of silver along with the gold and received a very small amount of money for it!
It did make sense as the extra weight did not add to the postage charge.

Make sure the "silver" has its little lion mark - I don't think a high speed operation like HGM would thank you for cluttering up the system with "Sheffield Plate".

There are some posters on here who are convinced that the gold boom is over but look out for the Silverbull:

When did you use it: 14/9/2010
What did you send it: 18ct scrap gold 22.4 grammes
How much did it promise you: £421
How much did it deliver: £421
How efficient was the service: Absolutely amazing, 100% common sense and speed, money in my account by bacs the day after it was sent
If it didn't deliver the full amount, what was its reason: I was over by 0.1 of a gram which I fully expected as I guessed it based on a disappointing quote from a jeweller
Anything else other people should know: i can't find anyone with better prices, even if i could i doubt they would have such good service and no hidden charges, this is how i would run it if i did it.

A jeweller offered me £250 so hcm are way better, best high street price I got was £350. I've seen people on the high street offering £10/gram of 18ct which is half its worth. If you know what gold you have and how much it weighs there is no need to take it all over the place to get quotes, just ask how much per gram and are there any other charges and work it out for yourself. hatton garden metals is where I ended up after all my searching and I'm sure it will be where you end up too.

I think a lot of people on here posting positive feedback are new users because they (hatton garden metals) encourage you to leave feedback on this thread in their emails. Also when a service really does impress so many people they will sign up just do leave positive feedback because lets face it its pretty rare to be 100% satisfied when you buy in to a product or service these days.
