  • Just wondering which part of your problem constitutes a rip-off?
    one of the famous 5:kiss:
  • Did you use a Tesco clubcard when buying the TV? If so, they may be able to trace your transaction through that. Sainsbury's traced a purchase for me with my Nectar card details once when I had lost a receipt.

OP please post back as to how tesco ripped you off, im just intrigued,
  • I did suggest they could check it through my clubcard but they deny being able to get any information from this, they only started selling to sets last year so there's no possability that it's an older unit and out of its guarantee period.
  • oh and it's a technika tv which is their own brand so going to the manufacturer isn't an option.

That isn't the point. You could have bought it from anywhere, at anytime in the last year.

(Very Simply) From their point of view it's like me coming knocking on your door because the vacuum cleaner you sold me has broken, you don't remember selling it to me and I don't have any proof you did - are you going to give me a refund? If so, I can I have your address IIRC I purchased loads from you! :rotfl:
  • There are many other ways to prove this, and from what I have read before, witnesses are even proof.

If its a teknika, its pretty obvious it was from Tesco, and certain models are only stocked for certain amounts of time, also what about batch numbers and stuff like this.

Look at the manufacturer date that is often printed on items, I know it can be sold much after this date, but if that is within your 12 months (or whatever they offer), then this is more proof it was purchased within the time period. You might be able to get the manufacturer date from the serial too.

yes but it doesnt prove the OP bought it new does it?
  • they CAN trace it through your clubcard but it takes time and that is why they are saying no, also as it is a TV receiver they would have taken your details from the Clubcard to pass on to TV Licencesing - even if you paid cash no clubcard they would have had to take those details
