Sorry for the random post, but i just dont get this one:rolleyes:
Hmmm yes quite random Bat.....surely thats your job so that the rest of your family can sleep peacefully knowing that you will have the paranoia of worrying if you locked the car, brought the cat in, turned the TV off, locked the back door etc.
Anyhow I hope you don`t suffer with too much `hangover-ness` in the morning...LOL:eek::eek:0 -
Has anyone done what I have - woken in the middle of the night convinced you didn't lock the door (though in your head you know you did)? And then gone downstairs in the cold to check and found it well and truly locked and bolted?BR 08/06/09 ED 10/03/10BSC member 2500

I'm already fed up of Christmas 'warm-ups' - and we only had a small(ish) turkey Crown for Christmas day.
Hopefully last night's 'turkey, sprout, parsnip and potato soup' was the last of it.
I could 'murder' one of phil's fry-ups (might even stretch to having a minced pie on the side.I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.

I never get fed up with turkey leftovers - it means I don't have to cook again!

Well I suppose that's the good thing about eating at someone else's on Christmas day - no leftovers! That said I was encouraged to bring some home and forgot! D'oh!!!
I'm actually going to get a chicken or summat today so I can cook a proper roast dinner for me and the kids - even got some crackers, reduced as it was past Christmas! I got a mini Christmas pud for me as well and a normal sponge for the kids as they don't like Christmas pud. I'm looking forward to it - meant to do it yesterday but no one was in the mood for it.BR 08/06/09 ED 10/03/10BSC member 2500 -
well guys...glad to see everybody survived Xmas with a smile.....?
the reference to swine flu is poignant for me.....
that's what I went down with on Xmas day...well...not swine flu itself, but another virulent version....I knew that because my trooters were ok.
Thinking it was just, either a bad cold, or my usual throat infection.....I started on my stock of paracetamol....
After lunchtime, I got the call to come pick up my No.1 son...I hadn't actually started my xmas dinner..plan was to cook it at teatime....
got to ex's....obviously in a right state, health-wise...she's even previously plate-up some of theirs...veggies, the works, and mince pies...and even a fresh pot of brandy cream [I'd already nearly demolished one]...made it home, DS broke into new pressie pile....but by then I was almost on my knees....not in the least interested in food.
bad night, DS does worry about his ol' Dad..............
ran out of paracetamol..never mind, says I, village shop is open for a few hours, Boxing day......got down there, to find no paracetamol left....they had some Lemsip max strength...gooodie, says I....sort-of......went home clutching packet......by now, I'm suspecting either [1] flu, or [2] bubonic plague....son does NOT want to go back to Mums......
this is where age hits..forgot Monday was a bank holiday.......................
[expected to find my GP's surgery manned....oh dear]
so...Sunday dawned..I saw it.
[Lemsip max strength has paracetamol, some othe funny chemical....and caffeine....guess who forgot what caffeine does?
Saturday night was long, painful [me ears hurt]...and considering I'd eaten nothing since Xmas eve......well, tummy told me no-way was it going to keep anything down.......not even water.
Sunday I decides to try the unhealthies hotline...or plague express.
Filled in the questionnaire..got told what I had was a virulant flu virus, and gave me a location for my quota of tammi flu.....this was achieved at 4-30 in the afternoon.....and the local tesco's was that location......and it shuts at 4!
DS now persuaded to stay at Mum's for a night....[she gave me a pkt of real paracetamol....so's I could finish with the lemsip....]
bad night again..I hate it when the stomach throws up, but there's nothing there....
then got 6 hours sleep......and soaked the bedding with sweat...so I guess that particular fever's passed?
Monday morning..DS returns crack of doom.....I decide to really take a pot at the after-hours service.....this is when it gets real good..
rang up...nearly hung up as it spent 6 minutes ringing....wondered if anyone was there?
Got a lad to answer...told him the details, he said a doctor would ring within an hour...great says I...maybe some proper meds at last?
doc rang, little sympathy...told me to get onto the national flu helpline, as she wasn't coming out to a potential flu patient!...[if I'd described the symptoms of bubonic plague, would that have roused interest? I wonder?]
now..here was/is my problem...I live in a village, some 5 miles from aforesaid tescos.
the flu site demands that actual victims don't go fetch the meds....!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ex has boogered off 70 miles away.....so no help there...
but then ,I thought, ''why am I messing about? I probably picked up the virus where I work, off the personnel who pass through that place...anything up to 2500 of them on any day....now, they have their own meds and flu policy....but....that only works if the meds actually know if someone's sick.
those personnel want to be through, out and away from that location ASAP....so if they get flu, they grin and bear it...to get away.
so, quarentine is really a joke.
and which bright spark thought of the idea for a tamifly pickup point in a SUPERMARKET?
I followed the flusite's suggestion for those who have no-one to do the picking-up...and guess what....yet another unconsidered stumbling block!
they say...contact your NHS trust!!
oh yeah?
Bank holiday?
oh well, maybe they've got a special automated exchange things that'll help....passes the time anyway..
got the NHST.....well.....what an abortion of a welcome message that was.......obviously the cleaner had been tasked to read the message.
and she'd turned on the machine before actually reading what had been written out for her..........and dropped her notes!
very..er....proffessional?
Told me they were all off on xmas leave, and to ring back in office hours....ta very much!
also tried their patient aid phone number...no answer....no answer....then..........silence...the phone went dead.
so..I conclude...it appears no-one is expected to be struck down with flu over Xmas.
or...whoever planned this [at least locally] really ought not be allowed to organise the staff p#ss-up in one of our nearby breweries?
so, I said to DS...''into car, we're off to tescos....''
and so we went......pharmacist was a little taken aback..I told him of teh NHS debacle...and he's going to look into it...because it ought not to have happened.
As he said, what if I'd been someone less able, who couldn't get into tescos?
so I have tame flu....he said I might feel nau-nuas...sick following the first pill.....no change there then, says I......and to try and eat something as I take it.....[I'd had these cans of bland batchelors soup lined up on the counter toot sweet.....and so far, symptoms are changing...if not improving.]
gone are the buckets of green catarrh...the earaches, neck aches, face aches [tubes, I believe]...so far so good on the sicky side too.
no sweats, no shivers.....
but I do feel ever so delicate!
[I must explain something of my DS's concern...last week, ex lost her Mum [DS's gran]....following a bout of flu which developed into pneumonia. He's very worried I'm off down the same path. So he's watching me like a hawk!]
Merry Xmas everybody....but I guess I'll wait til next year? No, I don't think all other drivers are idiots......but some are determined to change my mind.......0
