OS Daily Thread - Tuesday 17th November

Hi there! This is the Daily Thread for Tuesday 17th November. It is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Dailys' live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good.
Morning OS chums.
I am back - anyone miss me??? :rotfl::rotfl:
sistercas!
Hope you have a great day.
Jayne -
to you and the house elf
Bitsy - Hope your father in law recovers well, sounds like an awful accident
SunnyGirl - Keep up those Kegel exercises! (...and squeeeeeze and hold..
)
Candygirl - fingers crossed for your ex-FIL.
Twink - lovely to see you posting and thank you for the pm
Haribo - I am really happy you are back posting with us as we miss you when you aren't.
Molly - I think your GP might be the first place to go and he can refer you to counselling and the support you both need. Might be hard to get her there but she has made the first step and I know you will be able to be strong for her.
to you both and feel free to pm me any time.
sarah - very cute doggies
Not much OS-iness done this past weekend as trying to fix a laptop can take up all the available time and effort.
Had a nice roast pork dinner on Sunday so had the cold pork in a stir fry last night with home grown peppers and garlic and onions. Used tinned beansprouts and couldn't taste a difference and at least they don't just sit at the bottom of the fridge and rot if you don't cook them the day you buy them! lol
I just finished ordering a big pile of christmas chocolates from the Thorntons site as there is a code for a free £25 chocolate hamper if you spend £30. My father and my in laws and my best friends OH are all sorted for presents now and we have the freebie hamper to demolish! Link to the code HERE in case anyone else is surrounded by chocoholics.
Ok, well the BM is on with a cheese and onion loaf today and I threw in some chopped chilli too just to see how it goes. We gave in and put the fire on last night for the first time because the washing just wasn't drying and things that cannot be tumble dried were hanging around for days and just staying damp. So, fire on very low and clothes on airer. Also one very happy cat sleeping underneath it on the furry rug.
Doctors appt today for blood tests and friends coming down for dinner so possibly an Indian takeaway. Not very OS, I know!
To everyone who is poorly
- get well soon. I hope today is the best it can be for everyone. With love and light and
to all.

Awwww thank you Ivy! It's the purple type you miss realllllly.. :rotfl:Luckily I have been able to speak to Tris on the phone for the last few days and I can text him too. He is still in hospital and in a great deal of pain which is very hard for him.Doesn't it seem odd on here without Moneysavingdiva. She must be very upset not to be able to chat to Tris.

To be frugal, you need to spend money wisely, simply spending less is not enough.

G'day Possums
,
I suppose you all thought I went on walkabout but I've got the wrong colour skin for that.;) Although I'm a nice shade of brown atm as it's stinking hot.
Just between different time zones, having DGS, and being pooped at night I just gave up on the internet. DH gave up as well.
But that's another story.
I am now home alone and been catching up with a few things that went by the wayside as they do when you're busy entertaining ankle biters. That's children for those that don't *do* aussie lingo.
I'm afraid I haven't kept up with the threads so if anybody has any delicious gossip I've missed please PM me.
N9eav & his tackle are still intact I hope.
I went through my wardrobe today and tossed out about half. Very liberating. DH doesn't know it but I tossed out half of his too.
MSD The chocolate deal sounds great. Lucky you.
Sistercas Happy Birthday.
Hope everyone has a happy day. <hugs> to those that need them. ByeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeDon't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia.

Morning Aussie & MSD & all who follow
It's lovely to see you both posting again, you were both greatly missed.
I'm off to work soon, as I said last night we are still very short staffed so it will be another busy day.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Hi,
Just wanted to say thanks for supportive comments and Pms. I am going to collate suggestions and websites so I have somewhere to start. I was overwhelmed by the response. You are such a kind community.
My WM is now mended:T and washing is on. I have a lot to do today with DD and dont think it will be very OS but may be theraputic;) I may treat her to lunch out. I have voucher for Waitrose and need to get some foodie bits so will try and pop in on my way home.
Hope everyone has a good day,
MollyxxxI must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -
Morning. Last day off for me... Looks to be a pretty reasonable day. Not sure what I am doing, a lot depends on if my OH gets any supply teaching work or not.
If not we may go to the city as i need to get some fancy dress stuff for a party on Saturday. If she is working then I will 'potter' about and do some jobs about the house.
left overs for tea last night, so that saved a few quid.
Not sure about tonight..... get bored of eating the same stuff. Mince based, Chicken breast based, etc......
Perhaps pork chops....
Have a good day, cheersNO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!0 -
Morning everyone :j
Just having coffee and toast.. waiting for DD to get up, and will then make packed lunches.
I have college today, after work, so it will be a long day - I have an exam in 2 weeks
Nothing OS to be report, as I won't be at home for 12 hours, but at least I'm all up to date with the ironing
Hester - sorry to hear you're having it so rough at work
Have a great day everyone (((((hugs)))))Squares knitted for my throw ~ 90 (yes!!! I have finally finished it :rotfl: )Squares made for my patchwork quilt ~ 80 (only the "actual" quilting to do now :rotfl:)0 -
Welcome back MSD
Glad Tris is chatting, even if he is in pain
Happy birthday sistercas
Soory about the hamster
Haribo - It's really mild and very wet down here, so I think that's why we've been lucky with the mushrooms. I don't like stinkhorns, I find them really creepy _pale_
Molly - big hug for you hun ((hug))
Reverbe - Sorry your having such a rough time ((hug))
Nea9v - I get bored like that too and often feel I'm cycling the same sorts of food round.
Not much OS'ing going on - spent last night doing my custom order for folksy and sorting out another order that arrived yesterday evening. Dinner was stuffed marrow and fried potatoes. Had the dehydrator running again last night and booked a car for the airport run on Sunday as we are off to Prague and it works out cheaper to hire a car and dump it in airport parking for three days than it does to get the bus. We're not even that far from Gatwick - but the coach is horrifically expensive (£36 pp/return - more expensive than the flights) and there are ten of us going - so hiring two cars works out over £15 a head cheaper per person with the added advantage of not having to get the bus.
I had an intresting conversation with my insurance assessor yesterday and they have offered a preliminary figure that I am happy with. Suprised - but happy - I guess they were fed up with me asking questions
Right - must go and feed my cells, have a good day all - cel x:staradmin:starmod: beware of geeks bearing .gifs...:starmod::staradmin:starmod: Whoever said "nothing is impossible" obviously never tried to nail jelly to a tree :starmod:0 -
Morning all,
More rain expected today , will it ever end. Washing will be on the airer again.
Last night when I went up to bed, I knocked my glass of water over my side of the bed, my pillow and duvet were soaked through, OH gave me his pillow and turned the quilt round so that he had the soaked bit bless him :kisses3:, so I have all that draped over the rads this morning.
Cottage pie for tea tonight, I had frozen the base last week, so just need to do the mash, dd will have a mac cheese, slowly getting to the bottom of my freezer.
I need to pop to Mr T later, for a few bits, and have a general tidy round, will clear out a few more cupboards too.
Aussie nice to see you posting again.
Molly, sorry to hear about your dd, no great advice here, but sending loads of hugs xxx
Sistercas :bdaycake::bdaycake:Happy Birthday Hun, have a great day xxxx
Have fun all xx0 -
Morning everyone.
Lie in til 6.30am today
although I've woken with a headache so not great really. It was too windy to have the window open properly and I do need my fresh air as I sleep so I think it's that which has given me the poorly head (no vino.........honest!).
Got the next two days off from minding (OK only before and after school) so it does mean I can ease myself into the day rather than dashing upstairs at 7am to get ready.
BM got to go on. WM to go on and some to hang up. I am struggling to dry everything fast enough as we're not having the heating on much
More cleaning today, my bathroom is an eyesore
so that definately needs doing. Other than that probably will potter about a bit and play with the kids.
Diva - bet you were like this at your laptop
Nice to have you back with us.
Sistercas - Happy Birthday
Hope you have a great day and get lots of
and treated like
stressedoutmumof1 - good luck with your revising for your exam.
Sorry about the over use of smiley's but I've got time this morning to indulge myself
Hugs to those that need them.
Have a good day OS or not.I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knife

Loads more officework today but also have a broken dishwasher so first will be washing the mountain of dishes, seeing if the filter is blocked & then ringing the repair man. Am so glad it is not the washing machine though.
House is quite messy though not sure if will get time today - guess the mess will still be there tomorrow
still not menu planned nor had a sort out of the Xmas stuff :eek:time is running out - hope to be more organised by the weekend.
Anyway best get on, have a good day.x0 -
Good morning...
Started my morning with watching Robert Pattinson (Edward from twilight) on GMTV..MmmMmm. I can't wait to see the New Moon film Friday! :P
I fly to London tomorrow to do my Christmas shopping (remember I'm in Norway so the variety UK has regarding almost everything..is wayyyyyyyy better than here) Definitly hitting Debenhams. They have some good offers on fragrence and kids clothes etc.
I got a hotel right next to Croydons shopping centres and bringing 2 suitcases to stuff all my shopping in. Hubby didn't want to come. Kinda don't blame him as shopping isn't his thing unless it's for electronics, biker or gaming stuff lol.
I wish everyone a good day
