That is praise indeed. Email is nearly as fast as snail mail. :T..0 -
why should i pay to phone
Well the telephone companies have invested billions of pounds in infrastructure to allow you to telephone so someone has to pay.
Either than can be charged to individual customers directly with "profit making" numbers (as is increasngly the case).
Or it can be passed onto customers in general by giving (for exmaple) a lower rate of interest.
But somewhere along the line, the cost of the call and the people to answer the phone have to be paid for.0 -

With most providers these are aout 5p for up to 70 minutes and not PER minute like 0845, 0844, 0870 and 0871 numbers.
The 5p for up to 70 minutes is for evenings and weekends only. Monday to Friday during the day a rate per minute will apply unless you have an all inclusive deal. That may have been what I said but what meant was.....0 -
I think the reference was to the override services like call18185 which only charges a connection fee - currently 4p - and nothing for the call to 'geographical' codes at any time.".....where it is corrupt, purge it....."0

Hardly a good reason to close your account and start a revolution!
I normally pay about 1p per minute at evenings....0 -

We've been with Cahoot since they started... I think I've only phoned them twice! They are, after all, an INTERNET bank and I always get a reply to secure emails within a day or so.
I'll leave our account open, thanks!

Well you must have more luck than me. I opened a Savings account in March of this year, and they have only just sorted out my direct debits to allow me to put money into it!! I dread to think how much time I have spent on the phone over the past few months trying to sort it out. I just think its wrong that I have to pay to get them to fix a problem they have created. Not too bad if I cam carrying out an transaction, etc (as I do with First Direct on a 0845 number)0 -

I don't think so. This is a reference to charges made by service providers such as BT, Talk Talk etc. The 18185 connection fee of 4p does not have a 70 minute time limit. That may have been what I said but what meant was.....0 -

Your original post was complaining that Cahoot had switched from an 0870 number to 0844 at 4p per minute. Are you now suggesting that you only paid 1p per minute to call the 0870 number? If so please let us all know who this service provider is.That may have been what I said but what meant was.....0 -

Sorry, you're absolutely right, it's a sickness often suffered by people like me - I'm a Chartered Accountant - need I say more?!
PS I will not post here again so that I do not have the last word.
PPS Oops, I've done it again! That may have been what I said but what meant was.....0
