Cahoot Changes Telephone No. - Close Your Account And Protest

Just noticed after logging into my account that Cahoot has changed their 0870 number to a 0844 number which you are now charged at 4p per minute no matter what time you call them. How can they get away with this. This should be made a sticky so and everyone should reply when they have closed their account in protest. Only when they see people acting like this, will they stop their blatant profiteering.

Anyone. My account just closed....

So depending on who your service provider is, compared to the old 0870 number, it is now 2 or 3p per minute more expensive to call Cahoot at weekends, about the same for evenings and 3.5p cheaper during the day in the week?

Hardly a good reason to close your account and start a revolution!
That may have been what I said but what meant was.....

It wouldn`t be so bad if they answered the damn phone straight away but you are paying 4p a minute for their introductory speech and countless options and then you`re in a queue paying 4p a minute for the privilage.
Don`t forget they get a cut of the call and so the longer they keep you hanging on the more money they make out of you.
    Cancel your account,I have.
    Anyway doesn`t 02476 627 190 work anymore?

Sorry, but what a crazy reason for closing a very good account...

We've been with Cahoot since they started... I think I've only phoned them twice! They are, after all, an INTERNET bank and I always get a reply to secure emails within a day or so.

I'll leave our account open, thanks!

Yes, it does in spite of the other number change. Never been challenged about using it either, unlike a certain other bank - A something and L something.

I have never phoned Cahoot so this change makes no odds to me.

No it's not free, but it's a normal telephone number, so standard rates apply.
With most providers these are aout 5p for up to 70 minutes and not PER minute like 0845, 0844, 0870 and 0871 numbers.

I have no problems whatsoever with Cahoot, in fact I can't fault them (unlike my other Bank which has already been mentioned!). I have always emailed Cahoot and had a prompt and personal response. It never crossed my mind to telephone an internet bank.

They are pretty bad at passing on interest when you close your account.
    i.e. weeks later by cheque.
Might not be an issue for most people but some have thousands of pounds in interest owing.

I found them difficult when they lost an R85 tax form (strangely they got one and not the other despite them being in the same envelope).
They refused to refund tax taken by mistake and we had to make two claims to the inland revenue.
The inland revenue told us that many companies would refund us so Cahoot had made our lives more difficult than they had to.

If you are a "low maintenance" customer then you are unlikely to experience many problems.
