i'm curious as to what the film clip was too. at my sons school, they arn't allowed to watch anything thats rated a 15 let alone 18 and my sons are 14. think the teacher should definatly asked for parental consent at the very leastenjoy life, we only get one chance at it:)0

I've never seen the film in question, so I went onto youtube. I have just have to turn it off myself as that is discusting. I'm 22 and found that vile! And I can take a LOT of grotesque films. The worse the better in my eyes, but to have shown that to a 12 year old is wrong!! I don't care if it's to do with class or not. Was it for R.E by any chance? What's yours is mine and what's mine is mine..0

i hadn't heard of the film either, so i googled it, it looks horrible, and i had to turn it off, a 12 year old is far too young in my eyes to watch this kind of filmenjoy life, we only get one chance at it:)0

I take the view that the film certifications are way out and that you don't need to be anywhere near 18 to see an 18 film. That said, I agree with the person above saying 12 is such a long way from 18. Also my view is what i would do with a child of mine or a friend or relative under my care, probably having spoken with the parent - unless it was part of a series and I knew they had seen other films in the series. A teacher taking the same cavalier attitude as me is wrong, and one going much further than I would and identifying the child to allow bullying... needs some course or special training before they should be able to teach unsupervised.0

Could someone pm me what the film was - I really can't think of any gory, controversial films that might be educational.......

Hi I think I would be very angry if any of my kids were shown an 18 film at school! I would also like to know what the film was if possible? OP please go the head and formally complain obviously this teacher isn't respecting rules and guidelines  My daughter is very sensitive but not as much as many of the girls in her class and is easily upset by films so this kind by the sounds of it would really affect her. As parents my husband and I watch films before letting them see them if they are anything other than Disney/Cartoon films and for another responsible adult to take that choice away from me I would be very angry with them. There should've been a letter home and a permission slip granted for children to watch the film (whatever it may be but principle stands) while under age that allows the parents to decide if the film is suitable for the child to watch or not.
I think its also very wrong to make the children who decided not to watch the film/clip stand at the back they should've been allowed to stay in the library/empty classroom in comfort
OP you are definitely right to complain this was wrong of the teacher! Good Luck
ClaireWife to a great husband and mum to 4 fantastic kids 9,8,4,3 they drive me mad but I would do anything and give everything for my family :grinheart
