  • One of my cats is in the vets being operated on today, hope she's ok...

I'm getting on really well with the challenge, I think I felt so bad after my blip earlier in the month that I don't dare fail again :rotfl:Haven't been tempted to buy anything, and I even fixed my OH's glove by making a thumb bit from crochet :)

I did order the catalogue, I think that the general consensus was that it was ok to order it if a) I have use for it and b) I won't be tempted to buy from it. I'm ok on both counts, so I thought why not! I still stand by my decision not to apply for free stuff just because it's free, I will be making sure I have good uses for them.

Alison - Don't worry about falling off, it can't be as bad as my crashing-down-to-the-ground-with-a-big-huge-crash kind of falling off I had before! And yes you are right, this is all about changing habits, learning to walk before we have a little jog around the block.

Aril - That's great that you got lots of stuff from your mum's clear out. I find they are the best type of clear outs you can gain from :D tbh I don't think it crosses any threshold if you have been given what others were going to throw out.
  • my cat came through the op fine, although she put up an almighty fight about the collar until I bandaged her up instead, now she is A LOT calmer. I thought at one point I was going to have to stay up all night holding her so that she wouldn't pull the collar off!

I'm glad your cat is ok. For some reason they are much more difficult to keep in a buster collar (if that's the sort she had) than dogs are! I guess that's the independant streak! Hope she doesn't keep you running around after her all night! x
  • I think it has more to do with cats being related to Houdini!

Glad she came through the op ok. We had cat no 6 castrated a few months ago, worrying stuff ops.

Aril - definitely agree with P_N. You have come by unwanted and free goods. That's OK. I have just got some from my great uncles house ( he died) so it has been saved from landfill and I have some great items to use or find uses for.
    Put the kettle on. ;)
  • shhhhhh she's fast asleep in bed (I pulled the fleece blanket over her) with her daddy, finally got some time to myself (at half 2 in the morning!). She' been a lot calmer since I bandaged her, I think the collar was hurting her wound (she had a tumour removed from the back of her head) and the collar was catching on it. The last straw came when I realised she couldn't chew her food because of the collar.

Thank you both for your kind words :) Alison - You had all six of your cats castrated in one go? Wow!
  • No only number 6 (Zed) was done. We adopt older cats from rescues (anything from 7 years upwards) as they tend to be the unwanted ones. Except Zed.

We adopted a cat who was tbh the most unsettled character I have ever come across. He 'escaped' through an obscurely small crack in a window one night. So we left notices with local vets and cat charities. We got a call about 2-3 months later from people who said they thought they had found our lost cat, and that he had been living under a van on a main road. They said they were feeding him and he was OK.

When we got there it wasn't our cat, but another, in such a shocking state that we said it was brought him home. We told all the charities etc, but the van cat had not been reported missing, so we took him to the vets (he had lost loads of fur and nearly all his whiskers) as he was covered in red and sore skin. He hadn't been micro chipped either, so the vets chipped him and operated on him ( paid for by a charity as we had rescued him). So we now have an ENORMOUS ginger cat getting used to not being 'complete' ;) He has fur though it is still not quite as long as it should be and most of his whiskers have grown back. :)

Down side is he is so used to starvation that he eats all left overs from the other 5 at meal times - he is already on a diet!

Sorry that was rather rambling! I do hope your girl makes a full recovery. What has the vet said about the tumour?
    Put the kettle on. ;)
  • oh my goodness, I am so glad that someone as kind hearted as you came into the kitty's life, it certainly sounds like it needed good luck! I'm so glad to hear that he's ok now, and THANK YOU for taking such a good care of him :)

Our two cats came to us through charity, and we really have no idea of their histories. We were told they were 10 and 9, but the girl cat seems closer to 13. Anyway, the vet has taken a sample of the tumour for testing, and will let me know when they get the results back. She has been the soppiest cat ever since she's been home, I think she's milking all the attention!
  • _pale_Hi,
been feeling really bad, didn't get out of bed all weekend, just slept, and slept and slept, not sure what it was, normally my health problems are stomach or chest related, this was neither.
Hope kitty is on the mend Pink Numbers.
I know this is a bit dated now but no there was no date for the hats, it just said they need them for winter, I will pm you my address if that is OK?
To help with showing you the quilted place mats can someone give IDIOT PROOF directions on how to do a link, you know where you have the word in blue and it takes you to a new place.
    Did that make sence?

SanFran is back!!! yay!!! We were getting worried about you, thought you were either swept away by Mr American, PC ill or you ill. I'm sorry that it's the last option, how are you feeling now? Do you think you ate something dodgy or just tiredness?

Kitty is doing fine, she is asleep under my chair at the moment, she's not impressed with the bandages around her neck, but she appreciates that it's a lot better than the collar thing.

Yes please re your address, I have made one hat so far. Been slaving over a granny square blanky for my best friend's daughter for the last few days and my hands are absolutely sore. However, it was something to do through out last night while I was nursing my cat on my lap.

To do a link, you can just copy the URL (aka 'link') of the page you want (starts with http://) and paste it onto your post. The forum should automatically detect that it's a link (as long as you have the http:// part) and display them as so.

Sorry if my post doesn't quite make sense, I've been up all night and yet to go to sleep, just want to make sure my cat is ok :)
  • http://www.quiltpox.com/Patterns/Placemats/ Well hopefully here is the link for the placemats, I am going to use a different pattern but this site has the best directions if you wanted to give it a go.
