  • Sadly the iphone's are locked to either o2 or Orange. At the moment anyway, I asked last week when we got mum a new phone.

As already said if you are already with the network. Mum was o2 and wanted an o2 phone. The sales person managed to override the top up and put it as upgrade and she is due 18.00 in the next 28 days too.

  • Hi, I hope this helps, I have just purchased 2 Nokia 5530's from Carphone Warehouse website (bargain £109) on 02. They have just arrived and my orange sim works just fine (which im extremely relieved at!)

Just bought the LG KP500 Cookie on Orange from cpw for £48.95 (half price) and quite impressed with it.You do have to pay £20 extra for call time,so it works out the same price as all networks. It is unlocked, it even works on Three but could this be just temporary as it's not a 3g phone?
Regards the phone,it has a good screen which can be seen in bright sunlight, very important to me.

I guess i can answer this.

all our (CPW) phones are unlocked, but if you openly state you have a sim card and plan to use that sim in the phone, officaly we cant sell it on payg, because of some stupid company policy, because the price is subsidized by CPW, we have to sell with a payg sim on the 5 main networks with credit, if you dont use the sim with give you, its costs CPW £25, the amount of sims not used when sold amounts to millions every years, so managers have been told to down this down, thats why.

Thanks very much my dd wants a LG Cookie for xmas and was getting it from CPW they are selling it fro £48.00 with a £20.00 top up does this mean that I can put any sim car it in as she wants T-Mobile text and free internet for life. Would I still have to but it with the £20.00 top up.
    TIA:T

Some PAYG (o2 and Orange I think) give you a certain amount per month for the amount you top up, which goes towards your next handset. This can either be used on the handset, or given as credit. It means they go through as an upgrade, without the need for a SIM-free price, and you get either credit or money off. Think it's only allowed every six months, and you can build up a lot (someone i knew had £100 upgrade, so only paid a tenner for a very nice phone)

I do it all because I'm scared.

Thats really helpful, as my son wants the LG KS360 for Christmas. We're on vodafone, so I can buy it on the cheapest deal on any network and stick our existing sim in, is that correct?

If I am forced into buying a top up, does that come in voucher form so I can just add that to our sim as well?
