    What's 'MEW'?

You're actually wrong as the aquatic appliance was cost neutral. We simply borrowed £2,000 against the mortgage to purchase it, but I believe that the value of our smartpad increased by exactly the same amount once we'd had installed. Simple when you know how.

By the way, goldfish bowls are for renters, single mums and Kosovans.
To answer your question MEW is the acronym for Mortgage Equity Withdrawal which is what you did to spend 2k on a state of the art fish tank. Presumably called an iFish 2.0 or similar.

Anyway I see you are the class comedian, and I found some of your prose quite amusing.

It's a real shame you haven't been posting on here for, say, a couple of years or so. You've really missed some good stuff. I had this joke once about a window, a cold breeze and influenza.

You had to be there I guess.

In fairness the banking system our main economy driver is pretty much nationalised and I suspect it won't be long before other industries are too.

so where do the tax revenues from Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan, Barcap, Morgan Stanley etc... go - i'm talking about their UK entities here.

they are still a driver in the economy

If RBS and Lloyds had not been bailed out the rest would have gone with them. Lets not forget that the US ones were bailed out by their own government plus the overnight draw down facility that the BOE allows all the banks to draw down on.

No bank would be in operation in this country or the US if the banks had notbeen bailed out. Look what the Lehmans problem caused.

you're talking about two different things. first you're saying "In fairness the banking system our main economy driver is pretty much nationalised"; i'm saying that the banks aren't nationalised and they're still a driver as my post indicated.

just don't go on your usual rants Mewbie and blaming others for them :)

it would also be an idea not to try and be clever with the site owners and moderating team that you criticised so much previously.

why did you have such a problem with Miss Kool?

The banking system in this country is underpinned by the government if there was no government support then it would be bust.

The government are basically telling the banks how and what to lend. Its a game of cat and mouse. The banks know they would be bust with out the support of the government but they know the government knows they cant allow them to go bust.

The banking system as it is at the moment is not my idea of capitalism
