I think it's a bit harsh to describe her as 'greedy' afterall she was improving and extending the property that she bought in 2004 to make her dream family home, rather than jusr to sell it onfor proft.

Stupid yes, she must have over developed the property for the area generally and the street itself. I intend to extend my home when/if I eventually get around to selling, but despite being a chartered surveyor I still canvassed local estate agents opinions as to what added most value in our area.

    Very entertaining article.

    Greed knows no bounds.

Of course, someone will be along in a mo to tell me that she 'deserves' a fair price and 'isn't going to give it away'. :rotfl:

She wants to make 65K profit, and has a house for sale at over 3 times price of equivalent property in the area. And it's on a main road.

    Oh, my sides...

Don't you think the extension would have cost a bit more than the worktop? Although I agree it would be hard (imposilbe) to spend 200k on that property wisely, In fact I would have thought a total refurb and significant extension would have only been about 70k and even that's looking a bit too grand. An obvious case of over development.

Is it greedy to want a 'dream family home' or have I missed something from the article (I mean that seriously as I did read it very quickly and possibly missed something).

My apologies, I was a bit short with my post. What I was trying to convey was that the enthusiasm over the last few years to have designer features - taps that poke your eye out, flat screen fishtanks, 'flooring' rather than carpet, etc. - might prove to be a short lived and expensive fad in a more austere economic climate.

No, it's greedy to demand your buyers give you a 65K profit, and overpay by a multiple of 3 times, to make up for the fact that you spent vastly too much money on extensions and redecoration costs.

But vendors can demand nothing of buyers! Buyers can simply walk away if they don't like the price.

And they are doing. But she's still greedy to ask it, and moan to the Times about it. Instead of just reducing her price, as most people in similar situations do.
  • Brought a "Run down" bungalow for £365,000-00.......says it all for me.

People say "its worth whatever someone will pay for it" Codswallop, people were stupid enough to borrow stupid money to pay a stupid price.

Pure greed I'm afraid, especially having the crazy amount on a mortgage.

She Didn't buy the house as a home for her family, she brought it as an investment, pure and simple........
