CSA calculator

Hi all,
Just been on the CSA website and put in my details, and it came out with a figure of £5 to pay PWC.

I currently pay £20 a week directly into the account of PWC (the ex) not a big amount I know but this is what we agreed.
I suddenly get a letter from CSA about changes in my wages.
I'm on CSA2 as my case opened on 21/09/2004

Can someone tell me if this is the case:

Weekly net is 821.83
To pay 1 child PWC
I have 3 children live with me (my own)

I know what your thinking... I'm a tight ar*e, but its not that simple with my wages.
I have to pay for digs as I work away from home, plus fuel costs out of this net income, which leaves a lot less I can tell you.

Does this £5 figure seem right?

Many thanks,
Rare

Just to clarify, are you sure you meant £821 a week and not a month?

And how many nights do the children stay with you a year?

The amount is per week, however that is not strictly all mine as nett.
Like I said, I have to pay fuel and caravan site fees.

I see my son (16yrs old by the way) when I can as I work away alot at weekends.
To answer your question, less than 52 days per year.
My other 3 children live with my wife and I all the time.

Net is minus tax and national insurance ... gross is before deductions.

So if your take home a week is £821, then that is the figure the CSA will use. I'm not sure if they allow a reduction for fuel allowance on CS2, hopefully someone can confirm that. But they do not take into account living costs.

On the CSA calculator, using £821 a week net income ... 1 child to pay for ... 3 children living with you ... overnight stays less than 52 ... I make it you would be paying £92 a week!!! Where did you get the £5 a week from?

Unless of course the £821 a week is before deductions like tax/national insurance.

    There will be no allowances.

Shell's figure is spot on with what you will pay.

The CSA would ask for your payslips and the figure used to assess would be your bottom line. If your bottom line is £821 then the amount you will be assessed on is £92pw.

All taxable income is counted. Do you get WTC for your kids (doubtful I would imagine but best checking)

Your son (the 16 year old), is he still in full time education? In school or college?

    Hi,
I'm aware of gross and nett!!
Based on 4 weekly wages I average around £821 NETT per week.

My son is in full time college, so not earning himself.

I got the £5 a week off the CSA calculator on their website. Simply put in these details and it keeps throwing this figure back at me. I must admit it does seem low.

The CSA have also asked for my mortgage details, so if they don't take this into account.... why ask for it?
They also asked for my wifes wage slips which they won't get!!

    Regards,
    Rare

Hope I havent missed any questions out.

My comments regarding the "NET" and "GROSS" were added because the calculator does NOT show £5 a week with those details. Both myself and LoopyGirl have confirmed that now. I don't know how you are getting that figure.

My husband earns less than half what you do a week and pays a LOT more than £5 a week to the PWC. He pays for 1 child and has 2 at home, so yours might be slightly lower (5% in fact) but definitely not that much lower.

On CS2 you will have a 25% reduction off of the £821 a week for the 3 children living with you ... then 15% will be paid to the PWC.

I'm not sure how you are getting that figure off of the calculator sorry.

As for asking for mortgage payments and wife's details ... I'm not sure as these are only relevant to CS1 cases, opened before March 2003.

    Thanks for that....
If I was on CS1, would that make a big difference to the payment to PWC?

As always, highly unfair as I have to pay alot for fuel and caravan sites per week out of that nett figure... Ahh well.

The only way I can see you may get the £5 a week figure with an income of £821 a week NET is if you clicked YES for "Does the non resident parent receive any benefits?"

I'm not sure sorry. The formula for working out CS1 payments is not so straightforward as CS2. A poster on here called Kelloggs36 knows a lot more about it. I couldn't say myself how much you would pay though.
