Stop paying her direct as well, unless you notify the CSA AND get her to write a receipt so it is deducted from any arrears accrued.

That did cross my mind. I was unsure what to do in this situation.
By the way... she won't write anything. Can't believe a woman could be so bitter after 10 years.
She has got a boyfriend but he lives in his own house. Relationship on and off as well.
Maybe I was the fool all along.

onetomany.. I assume you mean this re-assessment that I'm doing now?

...and there is no calculator for CSA1 - it seems to be a complex calculation with housing costs etc taking into account

Yeah, what I mentioned as well. They will backdate the payments to the day the PWC contacted them,

I never begrudge anything for my son as we have loads of fun and do all sorts of things when he comes round.

You are definately on CS1. Does your wife work and earn less than you? If so, then it will be in your best interests to provide the information - especially if you have children, as otherwise you get NO protected income and it COULD mean that you pay the full amount, rather than a discounted rate. If you want to PM me the details I can work out what your payments would be based on your current circs. I will need the following info:

Net income (if you pay into a pension, add half back on as they only allow half under CS1).
Housing costs, eg monthly payments and then break down to show the amount outstanding and the interest rate payable. If rent, the full rent.
    Annual council tax amount.
    Number of children you have.
Age of children you have to pay for.
    Wife's net income
Tax credits you get (if any)
    Child benefit figures

I can then work out what you will be expected to pay both if you provide her details and if you don't. I will also do an extra calculation to prepare you for IF the PWC should apply for a departure/variation on the grounds that your wife can contribute towards your housing costs.

    Right here goes,

I was paying through CSA, then when I had my first child with my current wife I came out of work and got nill assessed.
When I started work again, my ex wife and I came to a private agreement to pay the said £20 per week.
This goes straight into her bank account and states child maintenance on my bank statements.

She recently asked for more money, but we couldn't come to an agreement as I have 3 small children living with me and have a lot of outgoings.
Hence, she contacted the CSA again.

My ex works full time so I'm unsure if she is claiming benefits. Maybe working tax credits. I don't know.

    I havent actually been re-assessed...
This is what they have asked for:

We have become aware that you may have had a change in your income/housing costs.
They have asked for payslips from both my wife and I... they arn't getting hers!!!
    Benefits, inc.. child benefits.
Savings, capital or investment for all the family inc.. the kids.
    Pensions.
If I'm renting my house or other property... I'm not anyway.
Any other source, inc.. working families tax credit.
    Mortgage interest payments.
    Council tax rates.

No forms to fill in, just send all the original documents.

Hope I havent missed anything out.

    Regards,
    Rare

If you are on CS1 though you are obliged to give the details of your wifes payslips as they calculate the amount of money in your household against your needs against the amount of money your ex wife requires to support your child.

If you refuse to provide them then they can make an assessment on what they think she may earn. However if you are under CS1 then you may be able to claim for a variation to assessment to counterbalance your travel costs and living costs as you have to work away from home.

You need to check with the CSA and ask which system you are on - if your ex has opened a new case then you will be on CS2, if your original case is still open then it is CS1.

Not quite true - he is NOT obliged to provide the details of his partner.

If you refuse to provide them then they can make an assessment on what they think she may earn. Not true either - they will just do the first part of the calculation and then not provide any protected income. With a departure, they will assume 50/50 split of housing costs in the event that you don't provide her details. However if you are under CS1 then you may be able to claim for a variation to assessment to counterbalance your travel costs and living costs as you have to work away from home. You can only have one set of housing costs - where you spend most time - either your 'home' or where you stay during the week.

You need to check with the CSA and ask which system you are on - if your ex has opened a new case then you will be on CS2, if your original case is still open then it is CS1.
If they have asked for his housing costs he will be on CS1 - they won't be asking for them if he is on CS2.

    Hello all,
Fistly, thank you all for taking the time and effort to respond to my questions.

As you know I was paying my ex £20 per week on a private agreement. The reality of paying through the nose with the CSA made me suck eggs.
I contacted the ex wife and asked how much she wanted to up the payments. We both agreed on £40 per week. Thank god for that!!

I just hope this keeps the CSA off my back.

    Best regards,
    Rare
