Santander zero card - no fee?

Earlier this year I applied for Abbey Zero at the peak of people's moans on this forum.
I'm not doubting their bad expriences - but just to say I applied by post and it all went very smoothly. Reasonable limit too. When I got the acceptance letter (or was it the PIN, not sure) I rang them up to see if they could tell me the limit. I spoke to a bloke in a local call centre who gave me the limit over the phone. The card arrive a couple of days later.
I remember setting up the online system was a bit annoying. I registered online and they had to send something through the post. I hadn't allowed enough time before being away from the UK for 3 months. So during my trip I rang the call centre to check transactions etc - again polite and efficient staff. No problems at all.0 -
I posted my application on the 15th, received my PIN today. No idea on limit, but I requested a £5k BT from my old A&L card whose 0% is coming to an end.
I will post here when the card turns up, hopefully it will be next week and will give people some faith that Santander don't always mess it up..!0 -
I had the guaranteed offer. I just got my PIN this morning but I called up and they couldn't tell me the credit limit til I had the card. Boo hooKavanne

I'm afraid I disagree.
Yes the customer service is dire, but the Abbey Zero card has been a nice little earner for me. Made a few hundred quid on 2 NO FEE 0% Balance Transfer deals, and use it abroad for fee-free foreign currency purchases.
I like my Abbey Zero card, and just avoid the customer service centre if I can help it :beer:0 -
I applied for a card and 8 weeks later had the paperwork confirming my acceptance and wanting me to send my details. I then had the card and PIN. I only wanted it because I was going abroad and needed a card with good terms. I phoned them to tell them I was going abroad - no problem. A day before I left, I had another envelope confirming my acceptance and asking for my details again. At this time I felt nervous of trusting my finances with them.
Went on holiday and on 2 occasions the card was refused. Just as well I took my Tesco card - that was accepted and I hadn't even told them I was going abroad.
Contacted Santander on my return and they were very vague about why the card transaction had been refused. Getting very nervous about their efficiency.
Today I have had my first statement. And another envelope confirming my acceptance!! No longer feel able to trust them.
Will be paying my balance and closing the account. It might have good terms for travelling abroad, but in my opinion it's not worth the worry of their incompetency - I have no confidence in them.0 -
Received my card today, less than ten working days from initial application. Only problem is, credit card limit just states "1ST". No idea what that means, and have not had a chance to call them yet.
Seems like dealing with this company is all pot luck!0 -
Anybody got a phone no. for applications?
I applied online several weeks ago and have reference no.
Have heard or seen nothing yet but would like to "touch base" with them!0 -

HOWEVER it is not letting me register for internet servicing. It insists my card is wrong. I will give their system overnight to update and then try again. If not... first complaint will be on its way to them lolKavanne
