  • Have used Phones4u before but no decent deals on there at the moment. Today I have gone with Buymobilephones.net for the first time. Free Tocco lite on Tmobile 700 mins, unlimited texts for £30 a month over 18 months. 15 months free by redemption and £20 Quidco making total cost of £70 or £3.88 a month.
  • Dialaphone is also now Phones4u.

You sure its not 9 months free and not 15, I cant see any deal offering that many free months.

The contracts to look for are the Tmobile Combi 30. 12 months has 8 months free, 18 months has 15 months free and 24 months has 16 months free.

This does seem like a very good deal but i am slightly concerned whether or not the co will be around in 15 months time!

I do note that Mobile Junkie has ordered from them and has monitored them for some time so that does up my confidence. Any thoughts?

Also, has anyone found any good deals through P4U co's?

    Thanks again!

I have (ordered from Buymobilephones). There is only one other dealer which has the kind of offers on which I use - and I definitely would avoid them at the present time. If there were the deals I go for with companies which would be relatively safe in terms of them "being around" I would use them in preference purely for that reason. I also only ever go for 12 month contracts and (relatively) lower tariffs to minimise risk. I lost a little on two contracts with Mobile Affiliates when they went bust, although mitigated the loss by commencing legal proceedings as soon as they didn't pay on time and were clearly becoming totally dishonest (they weren't in the early days as far as I could tell). I knew they were higher risk but decided to take it. Buymobilephones doesn't currently appear to be employing any dishonest tactics so after a long consideration and in the absence of suitable alternative deals I have gone with them for the first time. With all cashback deals there is a risk - if you do things properly and are prepared to sue the risk is small, but the biggest risk is insolvency. All bets are off in that situation, naturally - perhaps you should therefore weigh up the risk (as best you can) against the reduced overall cost if all goes well. There are threads on the dealer from as long as I've been getting mobile contracts which may help. The rest has to be your own judgement and what you are comfortable with. No-one can guarantee that good payment in the past will continue into the future. I have told the people I order for about this dealer (and my opinion of them as above) but none of them have yet resorted to using them, even though their needs to replace existing contracts are greater than mine.

Thank you for your detailed response. The problem for me is i need a phone with a higher tariff so the total effective cost would be the same or cheaper for 18 months but with higher risk against a much much better phone!

I think the value of the phone (to have not sell) would outweigh the 6 month risk for me but maybe not for others!
  • As rreasonable a summary as you can make with the unknowns. Bear in mind that you can only have two cashback deals at a time with this dealer (not that too many would exceed that and such a limit with a higher risk dealer might not be such a bad thing!).
