Zero Feedback Bidder didn't contact me before bidding

Hi Guys, hoping someone can give me some advice please!

Currently selling a play station 3 on ebay (auction due to end soon). Made it quite clear in the ad that zero feedback bidders were to contact me first before bidding (I know we all have to start somewhere so just wanted contact first).

Anyway, a zero feedback bidder has put it a bid and hasn't contacted me. Anyone been in this situation before??? Can I just cancel the bid as they didn't contact me first as asked?

If they place the winning bid can I just say "no" to this bidder???

Cheers, cats!

They're a perfectly valid bidder and you can't force people to contact you before bidding, whatever you'd LIKE them to do.

If you're anxious about them, you can 1) contact them and sound them out, or 2) cancel their bid - but remember this will decrease the auction price.

If you allow them to win, then you have to allow them the chance to complete the transaction, you can't just back out.

Why? A sale is a sale. Just ensure that payment clears before dispatching the goods.

Notify the bidder that this is the action you will take. The bidder can withdraw their bid too.

I would check what else they are bidding on as this may be an attempted scam. If they are bidding on lots of similar items they are probably going to try the fake paypal email trick.
  • someone with 0 feedback just won a phone i was selling. they just joined today so i don't think they'll pay me. i wrote them an email saying if they don't contact me by 12pm tomorrow i'll offer the phone to the next serious bidder. its so annoying, whats the point of doing it?
  • perhaps they joined to buy the phone? Everyone has to start somewhere.

if they were online to bid, how come they aren't online to answer my message? plus their address said lancaster but their phone number started with 023 80 which is the code for so'ton.

Someone with a high Ebay rating is just as likely to scam you. If its a high value item.

If you conduct the transaction properly there is minimal risk.
