Depends on model I guess, I have only used one touchscreen so far and that is the LG Cookie.

I find texting hard work, the phone dictionary is not great - the touchscreen slows me down doing things I could do a lot quicker with a keypad. Scrolling up and down is a pain (at times useful, but can be annoying). This phone has other problems which I note but thats not direct result of the touchscreen.

I would prefer to have a mix of touch screen with a keypad (not qwerty layout just normal mobile keypad)
  • OneADay is right. My last 4 phones have been touchscreens with hardware keyboards and I used both constantly to keep in contact via SMS and email. My current phone is only touchscreen and I do miss the physical keyboard as anything I do now takes twice as long as before. If you have fat fingers you'd be better off with the T9 layout rather than the QWERTY if the screen is small, otherwise you'll become quite familiar with the delete key.:D
  • I much prefer a touchscreen (I have a Samsung Tocco) to a keypad - I find texting much easier, but that could be because I have big fingers and the the keypad seems to be larger on the touchscreen. I am due for an upgrade soon and normally I can't wait to get a new, improved phone but I would seriously consider not changing my beloved Tocco if only I could find a way to sync my Outlook calendar with it.
Don't judge people on they way they look, the way they speak or what they're called because they can't help that.

Only judge people on what they say and what they do.

Blissfulbabe. Nothing to do with touchscreens, but I sync my outlook calendar and my htc with google calendar. Can you do that on the tocco?

I varies from person to person. I have a Nokia 5800 and I find text-ing is much faster on touch screen compared to phones with key pad!

BTW, all Nokia touch screen phones are actually press screen :)
Happiness is buying an item and then not checking its price after a month to discover it was reduced further.

I'm no Apple fan, but the screen on my wife's iPod touch (so I guess the iPhone too) is just amazing. Best interface I've ever used...

I'll echo this post. Find I go too fast on my 5800 at times.

I love my 5800, but sometimes it can be a little slow
