Although I once worked for the CAB, who insisted that 'mixed race' was also derogatory, and anyone who isn't white should be referred to as 'black'. My assistant, who had an indian mother and a variety of heritages on her father's side took complete offence to that - she declared she was a Heinz and proud of it!
It depends on whether the person concerned finds the term half caste offensive - Delilah's bf doesn't appear to, but some people do, so it is much less commonly used now.
I dont find it offence it all personally.

But people who look very tanned (like my dad) aren't white; nor are they black. They are mixed race.Sealed pot challenge #232. Gold stars from Sue-UU - :staradmin :staradmin £75.29 banked

I am half caste, well actually that's not true my grandfather was black Jamaican and my grandmother white British, making my father a half caste. My mother is white Irish, so I guess I am quarter caste.
In my opinion, neither term - black or half caste - are derogatoy.£400+ in my £2 coin tablet fund0 -
There is no correct pc word for any race, either mixed or not. I am 44 and I have seen the powers that be call me the N & C words (as you refer to them) call me coloured, african, negro and black. I personally don't actually care what you call me but my name would be nice. I dont call white people white, only when I am trying to justify why they refer to me by my colour.
Anyway it's potentially not about being called half caste/black/the N word it is potentially about being half caste/black/the N word which is a bit more serious, but I really hope it is about someone taking offence to a dodgy haircut. Good luck delilah6660 -
I take offence to that, I think we should label these cuts; mullet, bowl cuts, curtains, self cuts and ones where the clippers are blunt and has taken chunks out. There I feel completely pc nowI really hope it is about someone taking offence to a dodgy haircut.
Oh and thank GOD (sorry if any god fearing posters take offence to that use) you weren't a troll Delilah (which I could tell cos you thanked people and most trolls don't give a stuff about that) cos the troll police would have had a field day eh? (oh and sorry if the troll police are offended by that) And thank god (sorry again if any god fearing posters take offence to that use) that you are a forgiving newbie (sorry to label you) and will hopefully continue to use the pc MSE (many apologies to the grammar/speeling police for the use of 'cos', I know it's a lettuce but it's late and I'm getting lazy!).Honorary Northern Bird bestowed by AnselmI'm a Board Guide and volunteer to help get your forum questions answered and keep the forum running smoothly on Special Occasions, Green/Ethical, Motoring/Overseas/UK Travel & Flood boards, it's not part of my role to deal with reportable posts. Has anyone noticed that the PC Brigade (aka The Thought Police) are always telling others how they should react?Don't lie, thieve, cheat or steal. The Government do not like the competition.

It can be useful for people to know the acceptable terms in case they take up the sort of job where they would be expected to use them. If people have this knowledge and choose not to use it, that's up to them but I don't believe that ignorance helps anyone.0
