But possibly you were after the last collection so your post would not be picked up until the following day.

Completely not helped by the dropping off.

His massive workload still had to be processed whilst serving a never decreasing queue.

Had he stood there and waited whilst it had all been done, she would have actually had time to do it whilst the queue built up behind him.

Like someone coming and dumping something on you in your workday, when it's already full, and telling you they were back at 1pm to get the completed job.

    for goodness sake!

well the post offices need to decide what they would prefer us to do then!

My post office asked me to drop parcels off as I was holding the queue up too long for the people collecting their benefits/pensions on a monday morning( not that they are doing anything else and probably have all day to queue anyhow)

So now I leave the parcels ( and go back at their convenience, not mine)and they moan that they have to do them, and still carry on serving people
There are an awful lot of occupations that I can think of , where somebody dumps something on you in the middle of the day that you are not expecting - it's life, it's work
would be lovely to have your day all set out and nobody interrupt or add anything to it, that may spoil it for you!

Personally , I have yet to meet a postmistress/master that actually likes/or wants to do their job and doesnt moan, groan and whine all day - and trust me I have visted many many post offices to try and find out!

yes I can weigh and print my own parcels and drop them off, fine by me; but thought that village post offices wanted to keep open for business and not just a drop in old folks centre;)
