They are. Just had a cheese/salad cream and crisp sandwich for lunchOn the positive side, when you fancy a pack of crisps, they're right at hand.

Trying to "save" my posh pizza for as long as possible... it looks lovely. Trying to hold on now so it's a treat for tomorrow's lunch, so eating sandwiches today (have to use up the bread I bought somehow before it goes off).0 -

I'm a chav then as I don't have a colander...
I actually do have a colander, I dont think it has ever made it out of the cupboard I dumped it in. I use the saucepan lid.
We are both officially chav scum.
You do wonder about someone who defines people by their kitchen appliances:cool:Retail is the only therapy that works0 -
*Although I take into account not wanting to buy from any source which puts animals in the food chain though harsh conditions. t.
Pretty harsh having their throat  no dressing that up.'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. A single market without barriers visible or invisible giving you direct and unhindered access to the purchasing power of over 300 million of the worlds wealthiest and most prosperous people' Margaret Thatcher0 -
I have a colander or two in storage. Here my family have one, I often sneed to strain things on the same meal as I've steamed something, so just use the steamer thingy, saves on washing up. So, chavvy or not, I think that makes me lazy.0

I wish all battery meat was banned....jeez, I used to be a member of Compassion in World Farming a very long time ago and 25 years later, the sow stalls got banned in th UK and what happened? The supermarkets imported the pigs from E Europe etc and our pig farmers are on their knees.
Danish bacon is up there as the cruellest meat of all.0 -

Still saving my pizza "for best".
"For best" is a joke in our house; if you buy mum anything nice whatsoever it's never used, it's always "for best".0 -
Really?..........
I believe you can eat woodlice as they are basically prawns. I've never heard of people eating slugs although the French eat snails so why not?
Hugh F-W's recipe for slug satay:
http://www.channel4.com/food/recipes/chefs/hugh-fearnley-whittingstall/gill-s-slug-satay-recipe_p_1.html- 1 tbsp sunflower or groundnut oil
- ½ a fresh red chilli, deseeded and finely chopped or a pinch of dried chilli flakes
- 1-2cm piece of ginger, peeled and very finely chopped or grated
- ½ garlic clove, very finely chopped or grated
- 100g (2 heaped tbsp) crunchy peanut butter
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1-2 limes
- 2 tsp brown sugar
- Salt
- 16 slugs, prepared and cooked
- A small bunch of fresh coriander, leaves roughly chopped
I think in Yorks and Lancs they used to eat baby magpies. Not many people eat creatures that eat carrion so that is unusual.0 -
Its no only the French who eat snails. TBH< I really do not like snails, which makes me feel rather unadventurous. I'm not squeamish about them though, I just don't like them.0
