Do you mean the Cold Weather payment rather than the Winter Fuel payment?

If so, she may be. I'm sure there are some posters here who know which benefits will trigger the payments.

I'm sure someone will be along soon with the info. Fingers crossed for you!

may get cold weather payment if the temp is 0 or below for 7 consecutive days/nights
  • Richard, do I get the impression that you are looking forward to Christmas??

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton

  • my wife has worked all her life and just come down with a critical illness were she is uncapable to work anymore in fact she is struggling to live as it is a CRITICAL illness .....i still work and look after her too ...she would give anything to get her life back to how she was and continue the job she loved ....now why shouldnt we get help with winter fuel being our heating is on constantly .....compared with the couple over the road who both work and over 60 getting it .......let them have our bills

Is your wife claiming ESA and DLA?

If her prognosis is very poor she could perhaps claim DLA under the special rules.
  • she gets DLA thanks my post was aimed at the gentleman who said if your disabled and not paying into the system compareing a british disabled citizen to an illegal immigrant i was pointing out that most disabled people have worked but due to there state of disability cant work any more
