Winter Fuel Payments?

Hello to all, just wondering if anyone has had their Winter Fuel Payment yet? This horrible weather makes me think I want to afford some coal!! Thanks for any replies and hope wherever you are or whatever you are doing its a good one.

  • My mum hasn't received her payment yet. I wish that disabled people were entitled to it, as my son needs the heating on during the night as well as during the day. My heating bills are so expensive throughout winter that a payment towards them would be vey useful indeed.

Yeah, agreed. Many disabled people have conditions that would probably require extra heating. They are just as vulnerable and often poor as well!

My Dad recieved a letter yesterday saying it would be paid into his account within the next 2 weeks.

Enjoy em while you can...you wont get them next year if the Tories win! or at least theyl be means tested.
  • If they are means tested, my mum should still receive her winter fuel payment. And if they were means tested for people with disabilities, my son would receive one as well. He really struggles to maintain body heat, even though he is well wrapped up. Cold air compromises his breathing and he wheezes dreadfully. It also sets off asthma attacks. I pay my gas and electric by direct debit, though, and opt to pay extra each month so that I don't worry about putting on the heat in the colder months. And when he is at school during the day, I just wear cardigans and a shawl. I only put on the heating just before he comes home, in time for the house to warm up for him.
  • Totally agree with everyone about people with disabilities receiving the winter fuel payment, my Hubby and I both have medical problems that are made worse by the cold and damp weather and being warm is a luxury rather then a normal occurence!!!! I don't even know how they pay the WFPayment is it by name, NI number or random!?

I wish I got it too as I have my heating on from getting up to going to bed, my hip, knees and back with this cold damp weather are in constant pain.

Mandymull No sorry, you have to be over 60 to get the winter fuel payment. You then get £200 it's £300 if you are over 80.
