Can't remember who was driving

Stargirl, I know these letters are scary but they are empty threats. Like most of the people who have given you advice, the scammers tried it on with me and gave up pretty quickly. The advice you have been given is sound. Pay the scammers if you like wasting money, otherwise ignore them and put the money to better use.Still waiting for Parking Eye to send the court summons! Make my day!0

Stargirl - I just want to echo what's already been said. Please don't worry, just continue to ignore. Everyone on this thread knows what they're talking about, I promise you, and we wouldn't be giving you this advice with such confidence if we thought there was a risk of something awful happening to you.
They won't sue because they can't win in court - simple as that. The law says that any charge in a contract is a penalty, and hence unlawful, if it doesn't reflect the claimant's actual losses caused by this particular breach. That's been the law for 95 years and there's nothing these scumbags can do to change it.
And because they won't sue, that means there can be no CCJ, no damage to your credit rating, no bailiffs - absolutely nothing.
The whole point of these letters is to terrify you - because that's their only chance of getting money out of you. If they had a genuine claim they wouldn't need to resort to this!0 -
Thank you so, so much for all the encouraging replies
I really appreciate it.
I'll try to be brave - mainly because I can't afford the £415 they are now demanding!"Living on Earth is expensive, but it does include a free trip around the sun!"0 -
Next you could receive a letter saying that your debt' has been purchased & you need to pay within 10 days..ignore..just porkies!0

£415 for overstaying by 20 minutes is a reasonable rate I think. That's a fair and honest £20.75 a minute. You'd best pay it. Get your cheque book out and...infact, pay them an extra £35 for their troubles...yes, make it a round £450. If they quibble it, offer £500. Surely a reputable Private Parking Company such as Highview Parking Ltd wouldn't lie or make up such a random amount. If must be justified, surely.

In the words of Billy Bright from The Football Factory, just tell them to "Jog on".I'M NOT AS THINK AS YOU DUMB I AM...

Ooooh - I'm really scared now!!
As someone predicted - the debt has been purchased by Parking Collection Services Limited.
I ignored the letter but then they called on the phone! Husband took the call and said I would call them back - which I haven't as yet.
But I'm petrified
Do I just keep ignoring?"Living on Earth is expensive, but it does include a free trip around the sun!"0 -
Yes Ignore them and tell them to stop phoning . How did they get your 'phone number ..You not Ex D ?
But just remember if you ever get done by a Speed Camera you can't use the same tactics if you were to be unsure who was driving .0 -
stargirl73...breathe in...breathe out...now breathe in again...hold, and slowly release.
To put things in perspective for you...I am on my 5th or 6th letter from a PPC, which is from some debt collection agency, giving a Notice Of Litigation, and saying 'if' Legal Action is necessary the payment 'may' increase, and also states about 'issued CCJs' from the famous website www.drpl.co.uk . I believe the next letter will be along the lines of 'you will be visited in 72 hours'.
So...let's look at:
Parking Collection Services Limited: http://www.parkingcsl.co.uk/
PO Box 271,
Ashton Under Lyne,
OL6 0DL.
There is another company called:
Debt Recovery Plus: http://www.debtrecoveryplus.co.uk/
PO Box 259,
Ashton Under Lyne,
OL6 0ES.
Oh, and they both share the same phone number of 0844 5610965.
Taxiphil, could you further define/expand the term...'The law says that any charge in a contract is a penalty'.I'M NOT AS THINK AS YOU DUMB I AM...

No it hasn't, there is no debt.
I ignored the letter but then they called on the phone! Husband took the call and said I would call them back - which I haven't as yet.
Good, don't.
But I'm petrified
Why? They cannot do anything to you.
Do I just keep ignoring? YES!
This letter is exactly as predicted. Don't worry about it. If they call again just say "I'll go and get her" then leave them hanging on. If you've got a really irritating CD you could play to them while they wait, even better.0 -

Please tell your OH that you can just ignore these calls, put the phone down.
Or if they keep phoning and you are fed up, you could just inform PCS that there is no debt so you will not be paying in the absence of sealed Court papers - and they should refer the matter back to the parking company. Also inform them that any further contact by phone, post or whatever means from PCS, would constitute harassment.
Just inform them, don't get into any discussion. Repeat the same mantra in full each time in a flat, calm but assertive voice.
You don't actually need to do anything - certainly don't panic - PCS are just a jumped-up little company mentioned on here before. They don't even have a secure website to receive payments (not that you should even think about paying).
To find the thread where they are mentioned, search the forums for Jason Brierley who is the notorious owner of PCS I think.
From all accounts so far from people who have had contact from PCS, it's the final effort to try to get you to pay so you are nearly there. There's light at the end of the tunnel!PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
