How sorry did you feel for grandma, ending up with the pup and the truant son as well?
I wondered what's going to happen to the pups a few months down the line when they hit the chewy stage? Some of the owners seemed to know what they were doing, but my thought with the black guy with the tag was if he was restricted on going out, how was he going to manage with a boisterous chewing pup who needed to burn off lots of enery?

Didn't they say the tagged guy lived right next to a park or something?

Yes, but he kept going on about getting the dog because of not having anyone to talk to and was fed up of his own company so I thought that meant he was very limited about going out. May have misunderstood.
It also got me wondering (just as a general point) if you end up arrested and locked up for any reason and you don't have family / friends who will help, what happens to your pets? Is someone responsible for making sure they end up in a rescue centre or somewhere? Not that I'm planning on doing anything I shouldn't but there must be times when animals are left in the house for god knows how long when people do get in trouble.

  • Elsien, I believe they end up in a rescue if they are lucky - as do people's dogs when they have to go to hospital long term, and sadly, if people become homeless or have to leave home fleeing domestic violence (although a few projects are now trying to foster pets for people fleeing DV) - often the social worker will try and find a rescue to take them, or the RSPCA

Elsien, you are not on the run from the law are you?? ;-)

Not at the moment, although there's one or two people at work I could cheerfully do a mischief to at times.
I actually made them put on my emergency contact details at work that if I was in an accident or anything they were to make sure that mutt was looked after. Can't be too careful when you live on your own.:D

It is not a bad idea actually - it would be terrible if you were mown down by a bus and no one knew muttley was at home...

Sometimes, however well you plan, things happen that are beyond the owners control - in one case I know of a young lad who had been made homeless was sleeping rough with his little mongrel dog until he rehomed it, as no shelter would let him take it in, and he would not leave it outside in the cold alone... some cities have shelters that cater for homeless people with pets, but sadly most do not.

ETA - sorry, I know that anecdote is a little off topic ^^^

I found it quite sad tale of society today, most seemed ignorant rather than uncaring and many of the people wanted the dogs because they were fearful. The chap with the unvax pup wanted his daughter to learn kickboxing so she'd be able to take care of herself.

Its a shame the lady had to breed a litter before realising how flooded the market is with SBT's and she'd have trouble selling them. Just hope daddy dog doesn't get his daughter pregnant with the son being dumped on grandma as she didn't seem to realise that the pup needed to go out every hour. Granny also seemed to think her miniature dobermans hysterectomy made it unable to walk far so would she get the pup speyed.

I think the tagged guy had nearly finished the sentance so would soon be able to take the pup to the park.
  • Missed it - will it be repeated?

Or it just the old iplayer that needs to be used?!
  • It's on iPlayer but not sure if it'll be repeated
