Thanks, Sunnygirl. It was 210/160! There's no avoiding the drugs, sadly, but they want to do all the other tests first. For about half an hour they thought I might have to be rushed straight to hospital, but then the ECG was normal (my pulse was a bit irregular apparently too - the nurse reckoned that's more to do with fighting off both flu and tonsillitis ... it's been a bad week). Trouble is, I'm now a bit panicky, to put it mildly, and every twinge in my head is having me worry, which is tricky because headache and tonsillitis go together. At least I am back at work tomorrow after nearly two weeks off, so the business will help.
I'd better go and soak some oats for the muesli now.Mortgage started on 22.5.09 : £129,600Overpayments to date: £3000June grocery challenge: 400/6000 -

Useless week this week
Nothing worked out right and I've got nothing done really. Hopefully next week will be a bit more positive.
Fri: fish fingers and bubble and squeak
Sat: DVD night (pizza, chips, dip and crisps)
Sun: Lamb chops and rice
Monday: fish and chips
Tues: cheese and apple pork with rice
Wed: chicken kievs
Thurs: mystery meat curry
Fri: roast chicken
My aim this week is to have one of these meals, on the right day, with no extra bits.
Is that too much to ask?Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes, including you. Anne Lamott
It's amazing how those with a can-do attitude and willingness to 'pitch in and work' get all the luck, isn't it?

Thank you all for keeping me on the menu-planning wagon, and for giving me inspiration once again! Here is the champys plan. I will be making some soups for lunch as well, from whatever comes out of the garden.
Today - American style cottage pie, salsify
Saturday - pumpkin & sage risotto, chicory salad
Sunday - beef goulash OR Indonesian stewed beef, depending on my mood
Monday - green cabbage 'lasagne' with rice, blue cheese, tomatoes, peanuts
Tuesday - red flannel hash, stir-fried kale
Wednesday - hard boiled eggs in creamy curry sauce, rice, green beans
Thursday - fireplace barbecue: steaks and sweetcorn, with HM wedges and salad
Friday - spicy fish pasta bake, Swiss chard
Saturday - soto ayam (Indonesian pot-au-feu with chicken)
Sunday - tartiflette with brie, leek & carrots
Enjoy your week!"Remember that many of the things you have now you could once only dream of" - Epicurus0 -
Champys What is American style cottage pie? I'm intrigued and it may tempt the kids who are bored of my good old English one :rotfl:0

SunnyGirl - I've had the question before, but it seems not everybody likes this recipe! I fry some mince (say 500g) and onions together, then when it has browned I add a tin of baked beans, a good tablespoon of maple syrup, some worcestershire sauce and half a crumbled stock cube (or more if you like it saltier). Add a little water if it looks too dry. Simmer for 10 minutes, transfer to an oven dish, top with the mashed potato you have made in the meantime and put under the grill or in a hot oven to finish off. Right, dinner tonight is roast cat, as he somehow deleted my post by walking across the keyboard just as I was about to hit submit...
Oh, OK, I'm not really going to eat him. My plan is actually:
Tonight - meatball biriani (frozen, from my last visit to my local takeaway - their portions generally do me for two meals!), with hm veg curry
Saturday - pork and chickpea bake
Sunday - braised steak with brocolli
Monday - veggie sausage toad in the hole with buttered sprouts and peas
Tuesday - southern fried chicken fillets with hm baked bean-style chickpeas
Wednesday - keema curry burritos
Thursday - evening class day, so I'll have cereal or something at lunchtime, and something from the freezer for an early meal before I go out (very precise, I know )
I've got a meat delivery coming next Saturday and I desperately need to make some room in the freezer to put it all, so everything above is using up frozen stuff. I might make some roast butternut squash this weekend to have for lunches next week - a work colleague has been enthusing all week about the one she had last weekend, and I rather fancy trying some myself!Back after a very long break!0 -
Glad this thread has come up as I'm just starting to think about our meals next week, although now I have started slimming world my meals may be slightly different
Sat - HM pizza for kids and oh, chilli and butternut squash risotto for moi
Sun - Roast Chicken and Veg
Mon - HM Quiche, Beans and Chips
Tues - Lamb Hotpot
Wed - Chicken Stir Fry and Noodles
Thurs - Beef Casserole
Fri - Shepherds Pie and VegAug GC £63.23/£200, Total Savings £00 -
Hi everyone, hope it's okay if I join in.
I don't know what I'm eating on specific days as it depends on time etc but the meals for the week are:
veggie sausage & puy lentil stew
chickpea vindaloo & brown rice
coconut dahl & brown rice
veggie sausage & butterbean hotpot
baked potato with creamy mushrooms & leeks
baked potato with cheese & coleslaw
3 bean chilli & brown rice
they're pretty much all made and in the freezer already apart from the potatoes. Mr S will be eating burgers, macaroni, mince, chicken and fish & chips probably (I've given up on trying to organise him he's too fussy so he sorts himself out and then we eat together).
Luches are soups, wraps with quorn bacon, philly cheese & tomato, pitta bread pizzas and leftovers.
Breakfasts are granola & yoghurt, toast, fruit.0
