Here we have another example-will the potential buyer know if solar thermal or solar or both is being sold with the house?[/QUOTE]

well that house they are trying to sell looks like a bungalow to me, or are things different in south yorkshire? :rotfl:
  • I have heard about a similar scheme being offered to commercial property owners from a company called Ferrari Free Solar. Everything appears to be free, other than that I bear the costs of removing the solar panels from my roof when I want to do works. I put in an application on their website and they came back to me saying that a 32 KW system that would fit my roof could mean an annual CO2 saving of 15,000 kg and £4,400 on my bills! Obviously leasing my roof space for 25 years isn't ideal, but as long as I stay put and make sure necessary roof work is done before the panels are installed, it shouldn't be too much of an issue. Can anyone else see any problems with this free solar panel scheme? Any help would be appreciated.

This looks like a bungalow to me as well but appearances can be deceptive:rotfl:

Legally speaking words are more powerful than pictures and I think this is one of the worst examples of an agent trying to wriggle out of any commitment to the truth or knowledge that I've seen in a long time.

I have been told that if you have savings of more than £7,000 this affects the money you get back or make. Any one have any comments on this please?

The 'free' schemes will never enable you to get anywhere near this figure anyway, but the figure has no relevance to any of the 'paid for' schemes that I can think of.

Has somebody got the HMRC personal allownce figure of £7475 in mind, I wonder? Not that that's relevant either because the income's not taxable in normal circumstances.

Where did this £7000 come from?

This thread is about the free 'Rent a Roof' scheme. You get no money back as that goes to the company that installs your system.

Your incentive is that any generated electricity you use in the house is 'Free' and will reduce your electricity bill.

If you pay for a system you get all the subsidy plus the 'free' electricity.

With regard to the £7,000, do you live in Scotland? Could it be that the Scottish Government are still providing a cash grant?

That surely is surprisingly high - 966kWh per kWp in Sheffield.

From what I have read, I thought 850kWh was par at that lattitude???

I live roughly on the same latitude as Sheffield (just north of Worksop) and after 12 months of data I've had 2590 Kwh. We are shaded by trees for the months of Nov-March as we back onto woodland.
Some months figures (18 panel ASG 3.3 Kw array):
    Feb 61 Kwh Mar 218 Apr 391 May 405 Jun 416 Jul 372

Because of our Winter shading ASG has just replaced our panels, along with 7 neighbours, with 210 Kw rated (from 180).

That's 785kWh per kWp, then, isn't it? Slightly below Cardew's 850kWh per kWp.

Sarah from ASG posted earlier in this thread that they expected at least 2,800kWh from their 3.3kWp system(= 848kWh/kWp) and at that time all their systems were in the S.Yorks area.

That lends support to the argument that there is a considerable manufacturer's tolerance between panels. Doc N gets 966kWh/kWp.
