    Hi Adam,

I haven't got worst month's figures to hand - but, yes, ASG say that my system is one of their best performers.

As I speak, it is sunny and the panels are prducing 2.98Kw :)

I'll look up the worst month's figres and post later on.

    EDIT:

    Sep 10 273 kWh
    Oct 10 242 kWh
    Nov 10 138 kWh
    Dec 10 105 kWh
    Jan 11 110 kWh
    Feb 11 120 kWh
    Mar 11 291 kWh
    Apr 11 394 kWh
    May 11 444 kWh

So December (when we had all that snow) was the worst, no surprise there. Yesterday (v.sunny & warm in Sheffield) we produced 19 kWh.

Still, the panels produced 215 kWh in Dec and Jan (or an average of 3.47kWh/day) even so.

    Hope this is useful info.

Wow, I want to move to Sheffield - only 1kW for the past few hours here :).

These very useful statistics, published monthly by Nang (MSE) might help anyone wanting some comparative figures:

    Hello folks!

Busy for the last week so I didn't get to post the data.

Final figure for the year was 3188 kWh for a 3.3kWp - 18 panel system.

That surely is surprisingly high - 966kWh per kWp in Sheffield.

From what I have read, I thought 850kWh was par at that lattitude???
  • Apologies to all if these subjects have been broached previously but I got to post 600 and then skipped to last page.
    1) For those considering Homesun please note that they don't uninstall for free. That said my 'free' solarshare system should be installed within the next few weeks.
    2) My question is this :-
I work late shifts and so use power from app.7am when I get the kids off to school until I go to work around 11.30 (washing machine/dishwasher/iron/pc/telly + tumble drier in winter)
My wife gets home from work at 3pm, just before the kids get back to plug in their phone chargers/laptops and turn on their respective tellies etc.
Taking into consideration the cost of gas, would I be better off turning off the gas boiler and turning on the electric immersion heater for the period that the house is empty.( Thus using any spare pv generation taking into account any 'background' use (fridge/freezer etc).
I accept that this is unlikely to work in the autumn/winter period when the gas central heating will need to be on as well.
Your thoughts ladies and gents, would be appreciated..

Have you read this thread, from about post #10 onwards?

Brief summary - Cardew says you definitely won't be better off, someone passionately disagrees with him and the debate is still ongoing ;).

As you'll see, I am in Cardew's camp on this occasion - unless you have ninja-like reflexes with turning on and off the immersion throughout the day that is ;).

I'm sorry Cardew, those are the figures produced by the generation meter and provided by ASG themselves, so I have to presume that they are correct :rotfl:

We'd better enjoy our freakishly over-performing systems while we can...

...if the scientific reports today of the sun about to go dim on us are true, we will all be rueing the day we invested in solar PV :(.

I wasn't in any way doubting your figures, merely commenting that they were very high for your latitude.
