Is there such a thing as Requesting a PAC code "too early"?

Would someone be kind enough to tell me the address I need to write to so i can check this against the address they give me when i request my PAC.
Going by previous threads, it's either:
Disconnections (or PAC Request Ref: 1007/02)
Carphone Warehouse
PO BOX 345
Unit 19
Southampton
SO30 2NR
Let us know how you get on, once you've spoken to them.0 -

What if i stay with CPW but want to change Network?
I'm actually now toying with the idea of staying with Carphone Warehouse but want to change from my monthly 02 contract (which comes to an end next month) over to an Orange "Sim only" rolling contract.
What would be the proceedure for this? Do i still have to request a PAC code or anything?
I take that back,.........i WILL NOT be staying with CPW!
Firstly, i was mistakenly told by them earlier in the week that my contract ends at the end of Dec. Now it turns out to be mid Janaury!
I Phoned them anyway to enquire about changing over to Orange and they tried to "encourage" me to pay up early for the remaining 2 months in order to receive a PAC code.
I wouldn't mind, but the agent i spoke to was trying to tell me the PAC code was ongoing & could be used "any time"...........not that it was only valid for 30 days.
So in effect, he wanted me to pay up 2 months early knowing very well i would have to use the PAC code within the 1st month. (i.e ensuring they cut me off 1 month before my contract ends or me having to request another PAC code from them which would probably take me over the 30 days notice).
When i told him i knew the PAC was only valid 30 days, he muttered something about making a mistake & i ended up telling him to forget the whole thing.
Needless to say, i'll be contacting them in 30 something days before my contract ends & requesting my PAC then.
So basically, unless you don't mind buying out of your contract early or being disconnected before your contract ends - it isn't a good idea to request a PAC too early!0 -
My problem was that the date they told me the PAC had to be used by was the day BEFORE I received the PAC
Anyhoo, I used the PAC straight away, so my last bill should be the one I receive either today or tomorrow. The only problem is that I have a one month overlap with my new contract, but it's only a £15 tariff so I am not too bothered as I have a shiny new HTC Hero to be proud of...
... which incidentally is direct with T-Mobile, costs £36 per month for 800 minutes, unlimited texts and internet. The phone cost me nothing and it's an 18 month contract, AND that's insurance included. A fantastic deal really.
If I get a bill from CPW next month I will not be happy and will let them know in no uncertain terms!0 -
Oops. Wrongly posted.0

I called CPW/O2 yesterdday and asked for my PAC. The offered me the Samsung Jet for £20 a month on 18 month deal. I will get 600 cross network mins, unlimited texts/internet.
I told them i will think about it and get back to them. I'm tempted by the deal and unlimited internet is bonus and reading reviews of the phone are positive and make it well worth considering.0 -
Regarding your original question, yes it is possible to request PAC codes too early.
If I request a PAC code I would request it about 23, days before my contract ends, there is a perfectly logical reason for this. Firstly it means it places pressure on the network to provide me with a decent deal, otherwise I can leave anytime I choose, secondly it means since my PAC is valid for 30 days, I have 7 days AFTER my contract has ended (at which point I'm only paying for the days I have the phone rather than a whole month) to end my contract by porting my number to any old PAYG sim and I can also wait until the last day of my contract to get a good deal without worrying about having to request PAC again.0
