Suggestions for a new bagless vacuum cleaner, please?

I'm thinking about replacing my 9 years-old Dyson upright vacuum cleaner which is losing it's sucking power.
I want a bagless cleaner again but I'm not bothered by all these HEPA filters etc. I looked at the Dyson ball-style vacuum, but it feels quite flimsy. I want something that will last quite a few years again.
Does anyone have a suggestion as to which would be the best buy for reliability, build quality etc?
I was told about SEBO vacuums recently which sound great..... but they do have a disposable bag which puts me off, as I vacuum at least twice a week (after the family and our dog have trashed the place
) and it would bug me having to throw away the bags once they're full.

Hi
Sorry to say but bags are definately the way to go!
In Germany they think we are absolutely nuts over here accepting bagless cleaners.
Sebo is probably the best upright cleaner but also have a look at Miele especially their cylinders as you can't get any better.
I bet you spend more on filters for your Dyson each year than we do on bags for our Miele vacuum cleaner.
Good luck.0 -
I have not long purchased this bagless one.

And its utterly brilliant, a bit loud, does sound a bit like a 747 is taking off in your front room, but the suction on it is faultless, its sucked up muck on my carpets that I had no idea was there!
Oh and it feels heavy if that makes sense, not flimsy vacuum cleaner at all, its a beast..
Sorry, I am quite impressed with it, it was the first brand new thing I had bought myself in about 6 years!0 -

I got the smaller version of that in Asda for 30 quid, I wanted it for upstairs because it's light and I couldn't believe the power of it:eek: It's a pleasure to use and I dont use the Dyson that often now.0 -
I have a huge dyson which I won..luckily because I'd never buy one. They are flimsy as far fittings are concerned, and very heavy when not actually using the ball...like carrying upstairs etc.
I'm going back to a wet n dry cylinder soon as they are basically a bin on wheels and can hoover up wet stuff and just about anything else outdoors and in. Some come with back straps so you can carry them around, but they are smaller ones.
Something similar to this but more powerful maybe

we have a new Vax cylinder, bagless
the improvement from our old bagged vacuum is amazing0 -
Sorry, this is not a recommendation for a bagless vac...after a few years with a Dyson Animal I gave up and went for a (bagged) Miele Cat and Dog - can only say it's absolutely fantastic and would never go near a Dyson again.

I have an old Dyson in the van and it picks up all sorts of building crap.
The things to watch out on the Dysons are the filters. I have an old DC04 and recently had to buy a new motor filter and a washable filter
The motor filter is a lifetime one but anter 4-5 years of picking up building stuff it had it.
The sponge washable filter is ok but I like to have a spare as I can clog one up in half an hour if I am using my wall chaser.
Remeber to clean the brush assembly tubes and bits. It will feel like a new machine (ps check the belt is not broken)baldly going on...0 -
I'm not sure I understand what that means, could you elaborate please?
Probably sucking itself down to the floor...my dyson once did that.
