Nokia 5800 Problem!

As I said earlier, this combination resets the phone to its factory setting. When I did this in my phone, at this stage, I could just scroll down normally on touch screen.
But as you couldn't do that it looks like a bigger problem. Otherwise it might happen you had a firmware lower than 20 where this trick won't work!

Sounds like it is not a software issue, your touch screen appears faulty I would take it to your nearest Nokia repair shop or to your operator.Although no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.
There are two ways of constructing a software design: One way is to make it so simple that there are obviously no deficiencies, and the other way is to make it so complicated that there are no obvious deficiencies0 -
Well, I took the battery out for 2 days and left it on the side.
Anyway, tried it today and the touchscreen works!
All my music and pics are still on there BUT even though my contacts are saved on my sim card, it says no contacts???
Is there something I need to do to retrieve them please?
I always thought you put in your sim card and there they were so I don't understand why they don't show?
Help would be much appreciated please.
Thank you!
PS I've rung my mobile from my home phone and it shows "home" as the caller but it's not in my contacts???

Sounds odd they aren't in there but does show some. Go into your contacts and check the options, it should be set to display contacts from SIM, that or you can copy over your contacts from the sim card to the phone memory.Although no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.

Thanks!
Found out the problem - more by luck than judgement!
The hard reset had changed the default to "show phone contacts" and had de-selected "show sim contacts".
All sorted now.
Thanks for your help.

Great, both problems sorted. I am surprised your touchscreen is working again. Maybe its calibration was seriously screwed up.Although no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.
