Back in April the 19th to be exact, I arranged to transfer my electric from British Gas Standard to British Gas Click Energy through energyhelpline.co.uk. The price quoted (including VAT) was 9.172 for the first 225 kwh then 6.992 thereafter. Anyway I'm still waiting for all the paperwork etc so have just rung them to chase it. I am told that the click energy prices have gone up today to 12.530 for first 225 and 8.124 thereafter. One hell of a big price rise me thinks. I have been told that the earlier prices will be back dated to 19/4 until the rise. Lets wait and see shall we!!!

I don't believe it!!!!! I been with them for two days and they put the price up!!!!!
  • I so don't understand these flipping energy tariffs. I switched to Click Energy (I think although House.co.uk doesn't seem to show what tariff I'm on - when it even works). My last leccie bill came in absolutely huge, now I can see from the readings that my usage has gone up (dunno how) but they have now TRIPLED my DD amount. This is what I was charged for the electricity

first 187 at 14.321 pence per kWh £26.78
next 2055 at 8.397 pence per kWh £172.56
next 27 at 11.738 pence per kWh £3.17
next 298 at 6.883 pence per kWh £20.51

I've been paying just £30 per month before switching and now its gone mad. My previous bill charged as follows

first 178 at 11.738 pence per kWh £20.89
next 1526 at 6.883 pence per kWh £105.03

I guess switching and price hikes have conspired against me!
The best things in life are NOT free - but they sure are cheaper with MSE!:j

Oh !!!!!!! Energy companies !!!!!! me off, they are fluffing burglers! Get you to sign up with a promise of low rates and a month bloody later raise the rates. This kind of practice should be illegal. Its about time we had some real regulation. It pisses me off something chronic when all the energy companies keep posting MASSIVE profits and warning, oh well we have to put prices up again....

    :(

    According to energy helpline:

Yorkshire on Click Energy is now:

11.419p for the first 225 kWh per quarter, and 8.176p thereafter

Yet, when I signed up with them my confirmation letter said:

    9.513p for first 225kWh and 6.701 thereafter..

    Bloody Joke. :(

I haven't yet been connected to ClickEnergy. I just checked the tarrif on their own site, and it doesn't have the updates that SimplySwitch & EnergyHelpline do.

I'm due to be connected 16/06/06. According to EnergyHelpline, British Gas Online is now the cheapest. Is it possible to switch from British Gas ClickEnergy to British Gas Online?

I wondered that too. Seems odd that Click Energy is supposed to be "Our cheapest Electricity online" according to https://www.house.co.uk/click when infact it now isnt? :(

The lady I spoke to at British Gas said that they would quite understand if I didn't want to go ahead with the switch as the prices had changed so I presume you could go ahead and switch to British Gas Online instead.

She did tell me that was the same as their standard tariff though when I questioned her about it and couldn't understand where I'd got the figures from.

I've just done another check on energyhelpline.co.uk and now I'm confused.

British Gas Standard is coming out at 15.259 for 1st 225, 9.172 thereafter. I currently pay 14.532 for 1st 225 and 8.735 thereafter which was confirmed to me last night.

British Gas Online is coming out at 11.631 for 1st 225, 6.992 thereafter. I was quoted 12.530 and 8.124 respectively last night.

    and Click Energy 10.697 for 1st 225, 8.530 thereafter.

    :confused::confused::confused::confused:

I think a little more research is required!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I want to use this site but it does not have Atlantic in the drop down menu options. Does anyone know why? Is there another name for Atlantic now?

Can anyone suggest an alternative that works as well? I tried Martin's other recommendation but it came up with Powergen, but after reading the threads on here decided I didn't want the hassle that seems to accompany their accounts.

    Many thanks

Not quite sure what you mean by drop down box but if I enter my post code and usage details Atlantic comes near to the top of the list!

Atlantic is now part of Scottish and Southern Energy Group but it is still listed as Atlantic on ukpower. This site has a very useful price updates page.

Well, thats exactly what SimplySwitch & EnergyHelpline are...energy comparison sites.

However the one you link to, UKpower, shows the original ClickEnergy prices for me, not the new ones SimplySwitch & EnergyHelpline are currently quoting.
