Gardeners world

I just wish we could bring Geoff Hamilton back from the other world. He was a real expert and had such a pleasantly unassuming way of imparting his knowledge. I think the current series has really gone downhill and there's no way I can keep my eyes open until 10 p.m on a Friday night now it's been moved to a later house.
Annoys me how they shift slots or cancel it to make room for something else.0 -
Could Bob Flowerdew be persuaded to make a few more appearances?
Put him, Rachel de t, Titchmarsh on at a reasonable hour and I'd watch it again.
You'd get Bob urinating on the compost heap, Rachel being glamorous with the flowers and Alan being the stooge in the middle. Come to think of it, it could be as daft as Top Gear. But I'd like it. Actually I have a huge respect for Sarah Raven. She's a smart lady (qualified doctor), as well as a talented gardener, even if some of her ideas are a little 'wasteful' or 'unsustainable' in the real world.0 -
My vote would be for Bob, time for a green presenter. Waste not want not. Dig for Victory, all that.0

In response to the OP, Alan Titchmarsh isn't coming back to GW. He was on Look North news last night saying he is coming back to do a gardening programme on the BBC next year, but he has had his time at GW and it's right that other people should have a crack at it.0

Well that's a relief to me! I date the start of the rot from Titchmarsh - not because he doesn't know his subject, but because he was clearly chosen for his style.0 -

But yes, it would be lovely to see Bob on alot more. Alys is quite green, but not a patch on Mr Flowerdew.Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0 -
re Blue Peterish my DH is a novice gardener, his parents/grandparents never did any gardening, and he has a lot of enthusiasm but no experience whatsoever. I think he likes that GW is very clearly instructional, and enthusiastic and doesn't assume he knows stuff.0

Come to that , is a presenter necessary.
It's not rocket science digging a garden , show a bloke doing just that.
Same with clipping a hedge, dividing a clump of perennials, planting a tree.
Sowing, watering, tieing in.
A voiceover perhaps.0 -

I too am a very novice gardener, I don't know very much about it though Father was a gardener, I said I like it but still think it's a bit Blue Peterish.0
