Busy day today but fairly productive. Did a bit of tidying in garden (complete with rainy drizzle and 2 kids) and then this afternoon popped to Mr S for a couple of things and ELC and Argos to pick up some Xmas pressies (not all from me I might add - not enough to do my own Xmas shopping doing other peoples as well
)

Evening everyone :hello:
Haven't had time to post today as I have had loads of silly jobs to get through. Was out early this morning to get to the bank and to the post office. Also called in with the accountant and got another half a dozen Christmas presents (all very bargainous :money:)
Made stew this afternoon and a meatloaf for the freezer with a load of mince I had. Loaf for tommorrow's lunches is just finishing in the oven so will do the sarnies when that cools. Have to make some jelly for the lunches too.
RosyRed and Nic, I hope you feel completely better soon. x
Happy Anniversary DG. Did he get his long service medal?
Sorry work was bad Flutterby. x
You are soooo talented Celyn. :T I forgot to say yesterday that I was sorry to hear about your uncle. How is your Dad? x

It's confectioners paste rather than standard fondant - the stuff you use for making sugar flowers, you can roll it out so it's almost see through and it sets really hard (although it is still edible). I made the panels on Saturday so they had a couple of days to dry before I painted them late last night. They are fragile though, so I was quite paranoid about snapping them
The cake is covered with butter cream and roll out fondant, then the panels are glued on with more frosting and the edges sealed with water. I was going to use royal icing to seal the roof, but OH decided to help by making some buttercream whilst I was in the bath -which was far too wet and I had to use all of my remaining icing sugar to retrieve it - hence why there is some gingerbread house type piping on the top rather than the more delicate effect I wanted
Haribo - thanks
I'm going to ring again tonight and see how everyone is
PP - sorry you are feeling poorly
flutterby - sorry you had such a rough time at work - sometimes it can be really hard when you have a group that doesn't gel and you spend most of your time dealing with them kicking off every five minutes. Don't be too hard on yourself - it takes a strong person even contemplate doing that sort of work - let alone cope single handedly without the support.
Hester - What a little charmer - I wonder where he picked that idea up from?!:staradmin:starmod: beware of geeks bearing .gifs...:starmod::staradmin:starmod: Whoever said "nothing is impossible" obviously never tried to nail jelly to a tree :starmod:0 -
Celyn, you cake is amazing, you are very skilled :T:T
Happy Anniversary to the Donnys
Just had sausages, mash, fried onions, cabbage, cauli and sprouts with gravy, it was delish.
Made a cottage pie for tomorrow, and prepped the veg, done a load of washing, tidied through, cleaned out a couple of cupboards, and done lots of silly little jobs which I never seem to get round to.
Have good evenings all, and keep warm x0 -
Hi chums,
Danny should hear by Friday if he is successful or not so I shall keep my fingers crossed until then. His girlfriend Chloe has her interview for a CPSO job on Friday too, so fingers crossed for her as well. He is 19 on Saturday so I hope he gets some good news.
Had some delicious pea and lentil soup for supper tonight ,warmed me up a treat,so I'm now off to bed to finish off my Mary Stewart book about the 6th century I do have strange reading tastes I know, but I have so many books in my house that I have collected over the years that I am working my way through them ,then as they are read, they go into a big plastic crate which I take to the local charity shop as it fills up. Its the only way I get get shot of some of my books.I have lots that were given to me when I was confined to the house whilst I was having my chemo,so by donating them I hope that the cash goes to a good cause. My local shop is a Sense one and they are always keen for books ther ,but I have to make sure I don't buy more whilst I'm in there donating
Night all,sleep well
