Hi there! This is the Daily Thread for Tuesday 10th November. It is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Dailys' live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good

Good Morning All

Got distracted by doing some FH research after adding the sticky.

Boy is it cold, fancy arriving back North as we had the coldest night of the year so far:rolleyes:. Trying to dress in layers and keep the CH onto its timed sessions only, but have a spare quilt handy:o.

Today is our 36th WA, and yes I will be expecting the large medal for putting up with DH so far:rotfl:. Yesterday after returning from the hospital for yet another useless appointment, for another consultant saying, "oh they have referred you to the wrong area, I don't do heads", I said, "We didn't call at the card shop" DH replied "Do you want to go back?", I said, not to bother. If we don't know what we think of each other by now then we have a problem. This is the first anniversay we have spent in the UK for several years, and it will be different as it will not be a walk on the sea front and a Menu del Dia today.

OS wise, trying to have a freezer challenge, sorted out the washing and may get to it tomorrow. Will go to the local market today and get some F&V, and have mooch around a shop or two as not seen them for 2 months.

Quite a few needing positive vibes and hugs so here is one for your all :grouphug:

    Morning Donny,

I presume you are still typing, glad you got home safe xx

Cold cold cold here, even with the heating on, and we are due lots of rain today, good job I got all the washing done yesterday.

I seem to have lots of veg in my fridge this week, so I will chop, blanch and freeze them today, and I need to prepare a shepherds pie for tea tomorrow, that way when I finish work I can just shove it in the oven.

Sausages mash onion gravy and veg tonight, OH came home frozen to the bone last night after working outside all day yesterday at the edge of a harbour, so thos should warm him up.

The usual cleaning and sorting out today, need to hoover through, and mop, the kitchen cupboards could do with a wipe through too.

Ok better get on, have good days all

    Morning all

Very foggy, grey and cold here this morning, yuk! I can't believe how quickly it's become this cold. Had lovely pasta, with smoked sausage and mushrooms in a creme fraiche sauce last night for dinner, tonight OH is at a meeting and won't be home until very late so it's just me and DS1 and DS2 to cook for, so we will have noodles and stir fry veg. Put the WM on before I went to bed last night but there won't be any point putting it on the line, so will put in TD. I will put the BM on when I get home from work today so we have fresh loaf for tommorrow morning.

Keep safe and well everyone, hugs to those that need them.

Where is everyone this morning? hoping they all just decided on a lazy one and stayed in bed....must admit it was very tempting this morning!

Lunch for e today is fish pie left over from last night...will stink out the office but its worth it and dinner is chilli which is in the slow cooker.

DS1 has his theory test today and judging by the arguments already between DS1 and 2 i think he must be nervous! fingers crossed for him.

I've decided not to go home around christmas- we would usually go and visit my parents between xmas and new year but it puts a big drain on the finances so just me and DD are going over at the end of january which means there's something to look forward to after xmas and i'll have been paid again.

Best get on - have a good day

  • Morning all! Its quiet on here this morning :)

Well, DH came home on time last night and was so fired up after his first day that he went for his run and came back positively bouncing! :jI was really impressed, I wish that exercise had that effect on me, if it did, I would be more inclined to do it! :rotfl:And his enthusiasm rubbed off on me too and I was feeling pretty good for an evening too.

We put some things on ebay last week, and all but one thing sold. We sold a desk for £23 more than we paid for it, so :T. The money we made covers the shopping splurge we had last week, so that's an added bonus.

WM on again, have no idea for lunch. DD needs a main meal at lunchtime, so I think she'll end up having pasta and tomato sauce with hidden veggies. Tea is courgette risotto from the courgettes that MIL brought round a few weeks back and I froze. Meal planning is all very well, but when a glut of veg gets landed on you halfway through the week it tends to get bunged in the freezer for use at a later date. Or perhaps I'm just a control freak who lets nothing get in the way of her meticulously planned menu!:D

I'm going to try and make my own Christmas decorations this year, esp hanging things for the tree. Been inspired from Country Homes mag or something. Anyone know where I can get cheap seasonal fabric from?

DD has her MMR this morning, so I'm hoping she'll sleep beforehand. Its not sounding too likely at the moment...

Enjoy your November days all, and remember, not long til the evenings start to pull out again:cool:

    Morning All.

It's freezing here too but the fog that descended last night has gone at least. There's been lots of looking for scarves, hats & gloves from the children who, of course, didn't put them away in the right place the last time they used them  Everyone has gone off to school/college warmly wrapped up though in the end.

I am coughing & sneezing merrily this morning so an easyish day I think. Dinner this evening is chicken curry, rice & naans which I shall make shortly to allow it to gather some flavour. Lunch is some leftover spaghetti heated up with grated cheese & some very ripe cherry tomatoes & garlic.

Where is everyone this morning? Hope all are ok.

Donnygal foryou.gif Happy Anniversary to you & Mr Donny.

Diva Hope you're ok hon friends2.gif and Tris too.

Big & gentle HShugss1232_10442.gif to all on this cold day xxx

    Morning All :hello:

Donny-gal - wishing you and Mr Donny a very happy anniversary! Congratulations :T
Essex - Sorry you're feeling poorly hope you feel better soon.

Well chaps, another lovely lift to work this morning with a nice crisp 10 minute walk to keep the blood flowing!! Is it only me who likes the cold weather? I must admit it does play havoc with my dodgy knee at times but on the whole I love it because it means Christmas is on it's way!!

OSiness today includes dark load of washing when I get home tonight, which will be dried indoors (don't know how they do it, but my parents have the warmest house ever! No heating yet either) dinner will be chilli with wraps which will be saved for lunch for the next couple of days. Bless DH still has no idea that he's eating about 70% lentils and 30% meat - in fact last time I cooked with "mince" he commented on how meaty it was no knowing that the meat taste was from a spoonful of Marmite stirred in at last minute :p Such simple creatures...

Right I now have to do some actual work (because they're paying me apparently!) so I must go. Have lovely day all, hugs to those in need/want

    xx

PP started the meal planning thread last week & mentioned that she'd been not well. I hope you're ok too and sending comforting.gif to you xx
  • Morning all. Happy anniversary to Mr and Mrs Donny-gal!

I've got to go out and buy some buffet food today, as DD is having a friend round for an early birthday tea (birthday is on Thursday) and she decided she wanted party food. She has done a list of what she wants, shouldn't come to to much. Am going to make some cakes to go with it.

Still not got the heating on here. I was a tad cold last night after watching some tv, but as soon as I got into bed I was toasty again. Kids are having hot water bottles, so they're fine. Not going to put the heating on until me or them are really moaning about it! Had cavity wall insulation done in June, so can only think thats whats making the difference.

Need to hoover and iron today, although will probably iron when kids are at scouts tonight.

    Have a good day all.
