  • I dont have an immersion, and its not a pumped shower. When I say intermittent hot and lukewarm. One shower it can be scalding, say yesterday morning, yet in the evening it was lukewarm. There is no tank although, the boiler does retain about 20ltrs I think (it may be more). Its a potterton combi boiler, big old thing.

    The shower head flows beautifully.

when the water goes to lukewarm try and feel the incoming hot supply pipe. if thats red hot then you know its the mixer at fault.
if the pipe is only warm then its probably a boiler problem.
    Get some gorm.
  • There no pipes to feel, its all tiled

  • yes, there is hot water from the tap, when there was only lukewarm in the shower
  • had a relatively hot shower tonight,

if its the cartridge? as has been suggested what do I do, is it easy to replace, or should I get a plumber. If I get a plumber what's a reasonable amount to be charged?

Frankie. As asked before please confirm its a thermostatic shower. I suspect it is and I suspect the cartridge as a result but unless you help me I can't help you. Whats the model of the shower? I also asked what you meant by a pressurised system - you didn't answer. Please describe your system. The fact that your boiler is a Potteron is of no help if we don't know the at least the model / number.

They can be absolute ******* to change and take a couple of hours or it can all be over and done wth in a matter of minutes. Somewhere between 50 and 100 I guess if you are calling someone out.

    Cheers
