my shower temperature has started to intermittently fluctuate. Sometimes its barely lukewarm and other times its scalding. Its only recently started to happen. Its a pressurised system with a shires mixer valve.

Any new appliances that use water in your home?
Any maintenance done recently?Not Again0 -
no new appliances, under my homesure policy, British Gas did install a three way valve to the boiler, which did resolved a hot water problem we had to the shower. But this new problem has only just occured0

Do you live in a hard water area?

If you have a combi are you sure its not a boiler issue? Do you get similar symptoms at taps?
If its the shower is it a thermostatic mixer? In which case cartridge prolly needs replacing. How old is the shower? You may find that Shires will replace if free of charge - some mfrs give long warranties on their cartridges maybe up to 10 years. Fitting it is a different issue if its been in there a while LoL. Suitably sized box spanner and a barrow load of ignorance usually required!

Why should that affect the shower temperature? Flow rate possibly but not temperature TBH.
Cheers
Because it does.
High pressure & low pressure roses.

To THIS extent?
Depends on the rose & shower.
Also if the rose hasnt been changed & it (or the valve) is calcified/contaminated the flow is slowed down & the water gets hotter until the heat cuts off.
All of which result in a hot/cold action.
Its most likely the flow of water being restricted or not enough resistance. Not Again0 -
