Telephone calls from banks trying to sell stuff - no more pressure

I received a call from a bank wanting to sell me some form of 'insurance' (forgot the exact type though).
They don't seem to pressurise customers in buying the insurance. After I listen to it, she said that's fine and bye, and then both us hung up.
Looks like the staff aren't that pushy anymore when trying to sell you financial products.

That's not the message I'm getting from the bosses of the bank I work for.0

Is that more "flog everything you can" followed by "we'll discipline you if you mis-sell" followed by "we're totally committed to the FSA and their 'Treating Customers Fairly Initiative' followed by "Why are you behind target this month?".That's not the message I'm getting from the bosses of the bank I work for.0 -

That's exactly the one. Thankfully I can do my job the way I want and hit targets but it's hell if you aren't. People are openly threatened with the sack etc.0 -
Shocking behaviour from management... and it goes back to a belief I have long held for the people having to make the calls: It's not really them.
Sales calls these days I just say "no ta" and hang up. No opportunity for a hard sell, and it means they can move on quickly to the next [strike]victim[/strike] customer. Win all round. Just don't be rude to them!Starting Debt: ~£20,000 01/01/2009. DFD: 20/11/2009 :j

I don't understand this last bit, provided you have ticked no marketing and have a not requested a call, I think people have the right to say whatever they want to whoever is calling. I personnaly just hang up on them, if they think I'm rude then that's their problem as I never asked them to call me.Originally Posted by Dr Cuckoo3
