The bears have lost here - so they're infecting the House Buying forum

Just stumbled across this very genuine query from a novice buyer:
http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=2065597

The bear's response is just appalling - exactly the sort of inarticulate nonsense that we have come to expect on this board, but there really is no need to infect other boards with this sort of nonsense.

If you want to come and moan about how unfair life, the recovering economy, and rising house prices all are, please keep the "debate" here

'The minister wishes me to inform you that your comments have been noted,' as I used to say in the Civil Service.

And to think I got a gold plated pension for that!

It's pretty easy to wind people up, isn't it?;)

    Well said.

That's really desperate of brit1234..... Just sad actually.

Not the done thing to infect other boards at all.

I have noticed a fair bit of that over there recently.

In fact I had to point out that bears making wild guesses at the future state of the housing market as if they were hard facts was not a very bright idea the other day:

    http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?p=26494853&highlight=#post26494853

Of course the bear in question replied with an immature post once they realised they had been rumbled.

I think these highly misleading posts with people giving their opinions as what looks a lot like facts to newbies is very dangerous and should be moderated.

It amounts to potentially very dangerous and potentially very wrong financial advice.

I am not sure what (other than deep desperation) makes these bears think they can state their guesses as fact in this manner but they do seem to do it awfully often. Oddly enough I don't see the wholly less desperate bulls doing this.

Don't play a violin for us buddy.

Play it for the trusting newbies looking for financial advice who are drawn in by this rubbish and who make potentially life changing decisions on the lies of HPC obsessed maniac bears with massive vested interests.
  • its a web forum. people can make up their own minds. its not going to harm anyone to read differing opinions from opposite perspectives

also, there are no vested interests here only interests. the term vested gets used too often - a vested interest is one with power/influence behind it - otherwise all interests would be vested imo.

no one is going to be swayed by an argument unless they find it persuasive in some way. our children will be safe tonight don't worry

Why would anyone seek advise from this particular forum?

I certainly wouldn't, it's not even fit for discussion anymore, bulls attacking everyone who doesn't agree with their opinion - if you don't believe house prices go up, you're a t-w-a-t... so I've read.

Wish I had the crystal ball to see whats going to happen in a year or so's time.

When the reality is, nobody knows... but if you don't succumb to the "everything is shiny, mob" all you get is abuse and attempted be-littlement by such pillars of society as Hamish and nollag.

TBH people are much nicer to me for thinking house prices are likely to fall in the future in the UK than they were 4 years back. Then I was the world's biggest moron and people were really very abusive to me in many cases.

A girl at work (UBS) told me she was going to buy a house, do it up and sell it. I said, "That's interesting. What would you do if prices fell between when you buy and when you sell?"

She wouldn't talk to me for days.

Pretty similar situation for me actually Generali, I remember being called mad for saying the current prices are unsustainable back in 2005/2006.

Admittedly, I called the top as end of 2006 and I was wrong - not that my error makes the current situation any better.

There's so many factors apart from reality and sustainability at work atm, when people do realise, I imagine there will be further drops also.

    btw,

Does this mean I've been abusive and will now lose my posting privileges?
