Ann Summers Party Went Wrong

I am posting this on behalf of my wife..
Last night she had an Ann Summers party, im away with work. She invited a handful of people, who invited a handful of people.
The party went well and the goods host left the house in a pretty drunk state.
As the wife was clearing up, she noticed that some of the alcohol was missing that she had bought, and someone had stuffed it into a bag with her sisters handbag & shoes. The offender was drunk as a skunk..but let it go.
This morning, the wife received a text from the Host saying that a few of her items are missing to the value of over £100 (Rabbit, dresses, chocolate paste, play gel etc) and that my wife is responsible for these goods as it was her party, if she does not pay the cash she will goto the police.
My wife is a little upset,
I've assured her its not her fault as we were not the owner of the goods, and the host should of carried out a goods check before leaving the house, and we cant be held responsible for her failures.
In the back of my mind this is spelling the word SCAM as there is no actually proof that things are missing, and an easy way to make a potential £100 out of people. The host is not the person that my wife was expected, but someone who sub-hosts.
Of course, we will help the police with the investigation, but we are certain that we wont be passing on names & addresses of people attending the party to the host, only to the police on request.
Beware all..

I doubt the police would take the complaint seriously. The rep got drunk and mislaid some of her stock. She has no proof when the stock was mislaid, or indeed whether it was stolen or mislaid.
How did the rep get home from the party? I would hope she was not drink driving?
Irrespective of the rights and wrongs of the situation (I am not condoning theft), the rep was irresponsible enough to lose control of her party. Whilst the reps are encouraged to join in with the party atmosphere, they are at work, and as such should not be getting drunk. The rep should take this as a learning experience and move on, as I doubt very much that she would want her area manager finding out the circumstances of the 'theft' - she would be out of a job.Gone ... or have I?0 -
Hi Rikki,
Wife will ask around, but then wait for the police to arrive. We will of course provide all names to the police, but to the host..unsure as this may lead to her ringing them harrassing them.
50/50 on this...

Did your wife know all the people who came to the party, or who invited the ones she didn't know?
Does she have names of all those who attended? These names could be passed on to the host and see how she wants to go forward.
I agree with your thinking about the party host being responsible for her own stock.
I would only be providing this information to the police (if it goes that far). If the rep starts playing amateur detective, a lot of friendships could be damaged.

I'd be inclined to email the woman back and tell her thanks for the "heads up" and to let her know what the police say and when they'll be in contact.
In the meantime, I'd get your wife to contact her friends and see if any of the stuff turns up. It may well do.
It's not your wife's responsibilty, but there is no harm in trying to help."One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."
Because by then you've blown your chances. That's it."0 -
I am betting the host won't go to the police..0

Funky,
I am with you on this..0 -
The kit is the responsibility of the Rep and she should've checked her stock before she left. I very much doubt the police would be interested as it would be the rep's word against the OP's.Total 'Failed Business' Debt £29,043

I once got called, late one Saturday night, to a noisy party.
I was on foot patrol and could hear the racket, about 1/4 of a mile away.
I went to the house the front curtains were drawn. Eventually my Knocks were answered by a female who was about 25 stone and dressed in a negligee type thing. She was as peed as a newt and told me see was having an Anne Summers party.
The noise was deafening, very loud music and even louder screams of laughter. I went into the living room where there were about a dozen other drunken ladies some in erotic night attire. In the middle of the room, there was a display table, showing the goods for sale, some of the toys were 'crawling' across it and falling off of the edge.
I turned the music off and tried to tell them to keep the noise down but was subjected to so much sexual innuendo that even I blushed.
The things they wanted to do with my truncheon and hancuffs were unbelievable.
I made a hasty withdrawal.
It was one of the most intimidating incidents I ever attended. In memory of Chris Hyde #8670 -
