I think the water bottle trick is because the dog sees a reflection of a bigger dog because of the curve on the bottle.

    Control of Dogs Order 1992

This requires that every dog, while in a public place, wears a collar with the name and address of his owner inscribed on it or on a disc attached to it. If a collar is not worn when out in a public place, the dog may be seized by the police and treated as a stray. Also the owner, and any person in charge of the dog permitting him to be in a public place without a collar, will each be guilty of an offence and may be prosecuted and fined.

The Environmental Protection Act 1990 allows for your dog to be seized and sold or destroyed if unclaimed after a seven day period.

Clean Neighbourhoods and Environment Act 2005

Local authorities have the power to introduce and enforce dog fouling byelaws under which a person in charge of a dog can be heavily fined for allowing dogs to foul in a public place. This designated land may include roads, parks and other public areas within the local authority’s boundaries; in fact any land which is open to the air and to which the public are permitted to have access. An offence is committed if a person in charge of a dog fails to clean up its faeces. It is no defence to claim ignorance of the dog's actions, the law, or not to have a device available to remove the faeces. This could result in a prosecution and fine.

Or just shoot it, as others have said :D

Problem with this is it is for Public Places.....the lady's garden is not actually a Public Place. It is private.

Dogs normally have a sniff round the same spot before going. Try puting down some Cayenne Pepper. He soon learn to keep away
You can always get more with a kind word and a 2-by-4 than with just a kind word.

I would take a shovel and lift the mess over onto their lawn if they stop picking it up. The dog is their property and so is its mess.
You'd have to put any temporary fencing up within your property so if it is a hard surface that might not be practical.
You might be able to get some old fencing through freecycle ,even chickenwire has to be better than nothing.I'd be tempted to put up a couple of those windbreaks you can get for camping.

Whatever happened to white dog mess? - you don't see it anymore.

In years gone by they used to put chalk in dog food to bulk it out. That's why you used to get white poo.

It was much easier to clean up as it was drier, and disintegrated within days if it wasn't moved.

    Bring back the chalk!!!!!!!!!!!
