Dog mess

  • If that was me, I'd knock on my neighbours door and kindly point out that their dog is doing a whoopsy on your lawn-they may not even realise your dog is doing it. Do you have children, or kids that visit, you could use that as an excuse, saying you're worrieds about what they might pick up. My dog uses the garden, probably once every few days, that is because she is old and struggles to go on regular walks without being in pain, but I always ALWAYS bag the mess straight up and put in bin. If you're neighbour is unaware of what their dog is doing, then its a problem you can easily clear up. However, if your neighbour is fully aware- thats when it starts to get tricky... I had a grit big alsation take to running into my flat, had the door open in the summer, as you do. When I tried to have a quiet word with the dog owner this ended up in a huge arguement!!! Just got to be tactful and hope that they are the neighbourly type.
    Good luck!!
RIP Floyd - 19/04/09. I know i'll see you again my best friend forever.

Thank you so much for helpful posts. I must try the scanner as has been suggested.
My wife spoke gently to them and they apologised and said they would pick it up but it took them a few days! Yesterday he did a HUGE one and it was gone this morning.
We don't want to fall out with them so I think a tempoary fence is a good idea. Where would we get something like that ----an easy one as we are pensioners and not as mobile as we once were.
    Thanks again

im sorry but if you have a dog and i have two you should pick there poo up but to let them crap in someone elses garden is a bloody cheek i have a six foot fence all round my garden because dogs dont know boundries but humans do they should have the decency to stop muttley from going in your garden as it is not nice to pick up dog crap if you dont have a dog

Sorry you thought my reply was silly. As an experienced dog handler, I was being serious.

If the dog thinks he's going to get squirted with water every time he comes in your garden, it will put him off coming in.
Here I go again on my own....

I know this sounds really weird - but you could try leaving a couple of 2 litre bottles of water on their sides (take the lables off) near where the dog will see it.

There is no explaination for why this works - but it was told to my mother long ago and she's used it with great sucess ever since.

I think that was something to do with a medicine that they don't use any more.

It sounds like they would pick it up again, have you tried knocking on their door each time he does it to ask them to clean up after them, and turn the conversation around to when are they going to finish the wall as it would solve the problem? Might be a timely reminder it needs finishing.

PS the water trick does work, maybe a bit of summer fun, aiming with one of those high pressured pistols the kids have these days.

Try cloves ,dogs hate the smell buy some cloves and scatter them around your garden especially where he likes to crap .Also go into garden late at night pick up dogs mess with a shovel and sling it over onto neighbours garden and then you also wont have to deal with disposal of it.
