Dog mess

Options
A large dog belonging to a neighbour has suddenly decided that he likes to do his mess on our lawn and he is attracted to one particular spot. Is there anything we can put on our lawn to discourage him/chase him away?
Thanks

Sorry about that, I couldn't resist it, though seriously this would drive me mad! It's your neighbour's responsibilty to stop their dog wandering; I'd have a polite word with them first and if you get no joy post the mess through their letter box - I've resorted to this myself as it's the only thing that SOME dog owners will take heed of. Good luck!

Why don't you report them to the council?

This is from our local council's website: 'We have fixed penalty on-the-spot notices of £50, but the maximum fine is £1,000. There are enforcement officers patrolling the District from time to time to carry out the enforcement of the law. We are also relying on other residents to let us know if someone doesn't clean up after their dog. If you see someone, make a note of the time, place and description of dog and owner - and report them. If you have their address, that's even better.'

If I were you I'd make a call and report them. I've got a dog and wouldn't dream of leaving his poop anywhere out on a walk, let alone in my neighbours garden - that's hideous!

Lie in wait with a hosepipe or water pistol, and shoot as it squats ;)

How is it getting access to your lawn? Do you have a fence or hedge? Have you actually seen him 'in action'?
The ability of skinny old ladies to carry huge loads is phenomenal. An ant can carry one hundred times its own weight, but there is no known limit to the lifting power of the average tiny eighty-year-old Spanish peasant grandmother.

Thank you very much to the couple of people who took my question seriously.
Firstly, I can't report them as they are my next door neighbours. Yes, we have seen the dog and chased him off but he comes back.
We had a fence but our neighbour took it down as he wants to build a fancy wall, but he is taking his time about it. The dog is never taken out for walks, he is just allowed out to do his toilet!
Please will the silly people go and waste someone elses thread. We are concerned about this and I don't appreciate the ones who came here to make a fool of me.

Do you get on with them well enough to tell them it's causing a problem? If not, can you put up a temporary fence and if they ask why, explain it's to stop the dog mess on your lawn? Who's legally responsible for the fence on that side?

Buy one of those sonic Cat/Dog scarer's. I put one in my garden and have had no mess from the cats since.
