Good Morning all.I had quite a productive day yesterday. I made and iced and nice sponge cake, and also made a big tin full of sausage rolls. Popped across to Mr Ts and found lots of whoopsied stuff.A chicken pie down to 45p, a large quiche that will do me two days at least for lunch at 89p It was bacon and leek which is my favourite.Plus lots of veggies.I was tempted with the garlic roule cheese but wasn't sure if you could freeze it safely so I didn't get it.
Lots of stuff for my baking though, and they have started to sell lard in there which will come in handy for pasty making as I always use half lard half marg.Cookeen was getting quite expensive, so the new lard at 29p seemed to be a bargain.Sat and knitted quite a bit last night and watched the Rememberance service at the Albert Hall as I do every year.
My nephew is the Bishop of Manchester's assitant vicar, so I like to see him at work every year .He took my DD and myself there around four years ago to see the service and it was amazing. We had a box only two away from the Queen. Afterwards we walked across the main floor where the poppies had fallen and there are literally millions of them.An assistant gave us both a wreath each to take home and lay on our local memorials which we did.A night I shall never forget to my dying day as it was so beautiful and moving.
Today I shall be going to me local service in our church shortly then home for my bacon quiche and some salad..My eldest DD is visiting this afternoon she want to go down to the local Dockside outlet centre in Chatham for a wander. Then late afternoon I shall be off to my youngest DDs for dinner.
I managed to get hold of the therapist to do the MLD by the way I spoke to him yesterday and I am booked in for my first massage session on the 2nd December.Well time to get a move on <<Hugs to those who are down and blue today >> andto the rest of you .Have a peaceful Rememberance day

Morning all
My gosh my winter duvet was toasty last night! A bit too toasty on occasions! But it was nice to snuggle under. So much for me drinking my mock-Baileys last night, I fell asleep on the sofa at half9!
Had a lie in til 9, read my book and watched a bit of Gok on E4. WM has been on and is on airer on balcony, it's quite windy but no rain yet so hopefully it will dry some of it.
At this exact moment I can see 2 windsurfers practising in the dock outside my window, 3 kite surfers in the sea to the right of me, and the air ambulance is practising landing on the beach! So a busy view!
Not had breakfast yet, so think I will have a brunch instead (srambled eggs, saute pots, quorn sausages and beans) and I might do a stuffed peppers and roast potatoes for tea
My Grandad served in WW2, and he sadly passed away in May this year, so I'm going to pop to the beach later and just spend a few moments thinking of him.
Have a good Rememberance Sunday all

Well, chemo didn’t go too well. I arrived at hospital at 9am on Thursday and should have been having treatment straight away but when I’d had my blood tests done on the Monday they hadn’t taken enough vials of blood (and they hadn’t let me know) so I had to have more tests and wait an hour and a half before they had the results. Once they came (and everything was within normal limits) they had to find a doctor to sign off my results and get my chemo manufactured which was another wait. Eventually at around 1pm they took me through to the ward. The first nurse had a go at putting the canula in my hand but because I was cold / nervous / dehydrated my vein wasn’t playing and she couldn’t get it in. They gave me a mini electric blanket to wrap my arm in to warm up my veins then a different nurse had a go. Still couldn’t do it. So then I got a bowl of water to soak my hand in and thankfully it had worked enough to get the dratted canula in.
They then get a drip into me with saline solution and start syringing the chemo in. There are four huge vials of red stuff which has to go in slowly to prevent burning out my veins then two anti sickness vials then another syringe and a bag of IV fluid followed by more saline to flush everything through. This was all fine. I had a couple of side effects; a funny taste in my mouth for a while followed by ants in my pants where I honestly couldn’t sit still – much hilarity for MrS!
That was it – I was tired but not feeling ill. We went home, had a sandwich and walked the dog and then the exhaustion hit me, massively. I went for a bath and fell asleep for a while and then the nausea started. Vomit city - starting at every half hour and then slowing down to every 90 minutes then 2 hours. I was literally waking up, throwing up, crawling back to bed then sleeping again for a while. Not good. By 9am I’d had enough and phoned the hospital who told me that I shouldn’t really be being sick at all and to go into hospital as soon as I could. So we bundle up into my car (not his in case I through up on route) and they gave me a bed straight away. More blood tests, two injections in my bum and a long lie down before we were let out at around 6pm armed with tablets to stop me being any more sick. I did manage to eat some chicken and potatoes but still felt icky so bed again.
Yesterday was also a wipe out, although I managed to eat a lot more that the previous day and I’d hoped that this would give me more energy to get through today but every movement is an absolute nightmare. Today I’ve got up, had a shower and then welded myself to the sofa. I honestly can’t do anything. I feel sickly, although I can eat, and just feel awful. I don’t fancy anything to eat so it’s a case of being force fed small meals constantly. Maybe I was naïve but I honestly didn’t expect to feel anywhere near this bad. I’m told it’s an extreme and severe reaction and that it shouldn’t happen next time but I’m not sure I believe them; this is horrid. It’s particularly bad that there were older ladies and gents who just seemed to be getting on with it on the ward. They’d had chemo previously and seemed bright enough – perhaps this gave me false hope.
I’m now not coping terribly well and even picking up my phone has been a chore. I can’t truly see a way through the next six months if it’s going to be like this so please, please cross everything and pray that this is a one off. Thought I'd let you all know why I've been MIA (again) and send some hugs to everyone that needs them.0 -

I've frozen normal banana bread before successfully, not tried Nigella's though. Mine didn't have rum in it though.
I'm just making a sponge cake, but have no spongue tins so using a loaf tin instead!

We attended our village ceremony at the War Memorial this morning and it was heartening to see how many people turned out, including young people. I think the realities of the war in Afghanistan are starting to hit home with younger people beginning to realise that war memories are not just about elderly men marching who fought in conflicts years ago.0
