Morning all!
Read most of yesterdays thread but didnt get around to posting.
Washing (3 loads) from yesterday is just finishing in the TB. Made veg soup yesterday with cheapy vegies. Went to mums, had a walk and got rained on but saw 8 magpies all at the same time-hope thats lucky!? Had roast chicken for tea (wish I could do roast potatoes like hers)and then tried to watch strictly. I fully agree with the result too, though its difficult to watch as my dd insists on me 'dancing' every dance with her!!! I too sobbed my way through the remembrance service and really should go and clean my specs as they are 'splattered'!!!
Today we are having sausages with roast vegs for lunch. I need to get my basics gammon boiled to put in the oven at the same time and we need packed lunch sweet things so dd wantsto make buns and I may do some twinks too. Need to iron this afternoon and we are going to watch 'night at the museum' on borrowed dvd as my friend and I are hoping to the the kids to see the sequel next weekend for 95p. Tea will be something light.
MSD- sending healing thoughts for Tris-I'm sure you were relieved to have him back online.
I hope everyone has a peaceful day.

Good morning all,
DS1 is in the Remembrance Sunday parade. Goodness he looked smart in his air cadet uniform. We're going up to the war memorial at 11 to watch the wreath laying and to observe the 2 mins silence. The war memorial is outside the cathedral here so the service will be inside it. I think it will be an interesting experience for ds1 but he's a bit wound up by it as he finds it difficult to keep in time when marching.
I've got leftover leek and potato soup for lunch.
I think OH and ds2 are going sailing after lunch.
Supper will be chicken breasts with crème fraîche and gruyère (a recipe from a French website), oven 'fried' potatoes and peas. I think I'll make crème au chocolat for dessert- from the same site. Quite a luxurious meal so not really in keeping with my efforts to keep our pre-Christmas meals simple although it is simple to make.
Then after supper we're off to the rugby ground (Sixways) to watch their firework display which is always excellent. I just wish they didn't accompany it with loud music.
Haribo- I've been leaving the Cath Kidston catalogue lying around too;) I've got a couple of tablecloths. I like the sewing tins.
Just been checking my dried fruit stocks which are low. It's time I made the Christmas cake and pud, so I'll be stocking up on raisins and sultanas, glace cherries and candied peel tomorrow. I'm nearly out of brandy but I have plenty of rum so I think to be money-saving I'll use rum instead this year.0 -
Morning all,
We had a wet and wild night here (the weather not OH and I) looks like more rain is on the way.
Need to strip the beds and get them washed today, need to hoover and general tidy, dd needs to clean her room .
I also must make some goodies for lunch boxes during the week, will get dd to help with that, also will have to take little dog out for a long run, she spends the evenings now, shaking in her 'bomb shelter' terrified of the fireworks, I shall be glad when it stops.
I will be watching the rememberance service on telly, I always sob too, Will be thinking of all those who have lost their lives and their family's today.
Dinner is lamb neck fillet, which I will slow roast, and we will have it with roasties, cauli cheese and cabbage, the cabbage I got from sainsbugs is HUGE honestly its the size of a bowling ball, and as heavy, it was 49p :T I was thinking of buying a few and shipping them over to Kathy as hers are so expensive :rotfl:
Glad Tris has been talking to you xx
Special hugs to Jayne and George today, another tough day xxx
Have good days all xx0 -
Morning all
Thanks for the birthday wishes for yesterday. I had a lovely quiet day, just as I'd requested - I really didn't fancy a big party. We had friends and family around, some fireworks, a bonfire and a lovely time.
Hugs to all who need them xPiglet

Morning All
We too will be watching the Remembrance Service on TV, enjoyed the concert last night.
Am feeling much better today although still have a little niggling cough left, have felt rough for over a week now so very glad to be on the mend.
Have lamb in the slow cooker for tonight & probably scrambled eggs n bacon for lunch.
Have promised to take DD to see the This Is It film today, OH & DS have declined prefering to stay in & watch the big match - Man U V Chelsea - which makes it a lot cheaper for me.
Ironing pile cleared yesterday :j:jso just have the bathrooms to clean today. Will get them done & start the week with a clean house & hopefully will keep it that way.
Hoping to get some chocolate brownies made today - will also go though the baking cupboard as will start my online Tesco shop today and know I am low on some supplies. This week will also make a list of what I have already got for Xmas (foodwise) and what else I can be buying now as all my family have announced they are here for Xmas day  not ideal as we like Xmas dinner on our own but my sister has her kids Xmas day this year so cant be helped.
Have a lovely Sunday.x
Glad you enjoyed your birthday Pitlanepiglet.0 -
Morning, everyone
I'll be observing the 2 minutes silence today as well, and hopefully we'll have a nice relaxing day otherwise. It started with DH bringing me a cup of tea in bed and a long lay in - I've only just got up which is a rarity for me.
Tea tonight will be lamb tikka kebabs with the salad leftover from last night's burgers. I'm hoping these will turn out ok as the past few meals I've made have all been a bit of a flop, really. I bought a couple of packs of off-cut bacon on Friday which I'll split today and put into the freezer. I enjoyed my trip around Mr A yesterday and am going to take a trip there for different kinds of bargains than normal at least once a month. I'm stocked up on instant cappuccini (DH's fave) until at least the new year
Have a good day, everyone, and (((hugs))) to those in need.

Good morning,
Hester My grandad fought at El Alamein too.
My grandad was a military medallist, and I usually watch the remembrance service on tv. Even ds can do the 2 minute silence, but as it always makes me cry, I don't think it's a good idea this year (although ds did ask me in a whisper last year if one of the men in the wheelchairs was dead). I am taking the children to soft play instead as a reward for them being so good yesterday, and playing nicely while I did all of my cooking and ironing. Just a bit more ironing to do today.
They shall not grow old as we who are left grow old. Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning, We will remember them.
Take care all of you, and get well soon wishes to Tris.0 -
Morning all
MSD glad to hear Tris is well enough to be in touch with you.
Had to laugh at the not doing roasts idea - think I might make this sunday our last till Christmas too:rotfl:
Doing one today though, it is our anniversary and we are having roast chicken and all the trimmings but then might head out to meet brothers and wives later this afternoon. Oh gave me some lovely flowers this morning, very autumnal colours and really pretty bless him! I gave him a huge Toblerone as usual!:D I am not keen so know that my diet will be quite safe lol
House is clean and tidy from our stint yest and washing up to date although still on airers as not quite dry - so ironing can wait for another day.
Have a peaceful day all
