Maglite aren't the best particularly when compared to some LED torches. A year ago tesco were selling torches with 3 watt Cree LEDs which were really good and far better than Maglite. I think they only do 1 watt ones now.

The Fenix Torches are good. This is an example.

Slight overkill there. £200 for a torch that lasts 15 minutes and could probably burn your face off.
