Windows 7 Upgrade Help

So I tried to use the Windows 7 Upgrade disc that I got sent from Acer. I was also sent a Acer Upgrade DVD.
Everything seemed to go fine, I was on Windows 7 but then my instructions said that I had to put the Acer disk in to "install the required drivers and applications" which is where it all went wrong. It did whatever it was doing and then restarted. But only since then I have only been able to see the Windows 7 background wallpaper and nothing else at all. By the noises it makes when starting up and when putting disks in it does seem to be working but it isn't showing me anything on my screen.
I'm not sure what to do, the laptop is only a couple weeks old, I hope I haven't messed it all up
any help appreciated!

Just because you made a mistake doesn't mean you are a mistake.

Have you tried booting with the Windows 7 Upgrade disc in the drive? If you press [F12] during startup you should be presented with a list of bootable devices, one of which will be your DVD drive.0

Thanks, I'm doing a system recovery from before I put the Acer disk in to see if that works but if it doesn't I will try putting the disk in and pressing F12.Just because you made a mistake doesn't mean you are a mistake.0

This might be of some use to you too, provided there's nothing on the system you want to keep.0

I only have the upgrade version.
Trying F12 way now. System recovery done nothingJust because you made a mistake doesn't mean you are a mistake.0 -

Pressing F12 doesn't work. It doesn't do anything different.
Can I do a clean install without being able to see anything on my screen though?Just because you made a mistake doesn't mean you are a mistake.0 -

I would have interepteded this as putting in the original disc supplied with the computer. The windows disc is upgrading the OS but the original would contain the driver and applications information. The windows disc in an upgrade not a clean installation disc.£2 Coins Savings Club 2012 is £4.............................NCFC member No: 00005.........
